2023 razr+ (flagship) vs 2024 razr (non flagship)

Snapdragon 8 gen 1 vs Dimensity 7300X

I don't think this deal is great, but for the price I would take this over that.

That's really not a better deal. The original deal posted is for the 2023 Razr Plus which has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
The deal you posted is for the 2024 Razr and not the 2024 Razr Plus which means it has the severely inferior Mediatek Dimensity 7300X. To be blunt, friends don't let friends buy phones with anything Mediatek. Now if the deal you posted was the Razr Plus 2024 then yes that would be a better deal.

Fair with this specific model and chip, but not necessarily true looking forward - Mediatek are closing in on matching performance (and efficiency) and have been better and better in terms of the value they provide. They're playing the AMD to Qualcomm's Intel... however Qualcomm isn't making the same blunders Intel did, so it's less noticeable (thus far at least)

Actually, if your goal was to have battery life in a performant phone, that year's Dimensity flagship (can't recall if 9000 or 9100) had a better efficiency curve than Snapdragon flagship at most loading values.

It's $499.99 unless you let Best Buy activate with Verizon or AT&T.

It's pretty easy by chat, see wiki in this thread https://slickdeals.net/f/17327499-oneplus-nord-n30-5g-128gb-unlocked-chromatic-gray-cph2513-best-buy-0

Yeah I was skimming through that thread. Seems it does a soft credit pull though. Not sure how that would work since my reports are frozen right now.

AFIK, you will need to unfreeze it for the account to be created, you can then freeze it again.

What's the durability like on these things really? It seems like this is the only option now for a pocketable cell phone now that the pixel is huge and there's no iPhone mini. I just bought a moto g stylus and while it's decent to use, it is really too huge for my liking.

They have improved a lot. I have been using a z flip 5 for few months now, haven't had a problem with the screen yet and I'm without any case and also not babying the phone.
