Debating if I should grab a spare printer before the tariffs come, is the KE worth the extra $30 over the SE?

The coupon finally works so I just pulled the trigger. Based on the reviews, it seems like a super solid option. I have an Ender 3 Pro which has been working great, but the enhancements on the KE are totally worth it.

The KE is worth the $30. You get the Nebula which uses Klipper and Auto Bed Leveling. Those 2 upgrades are already worth more than the difference over the SE.

I bought this at around $170 and thought it was well worth it. Just be careful since they do not do a good job of refurbishing these devices.

So it won't work perfectly right off the bat but once you do the basic maintenance and checks it'll work fine.

Been printing PLA and PETG without issues for a few weeks. My longest print on PETG has been about 9 hours and it came out pretty good.

Agree, it's worth the extra $30. The KE comes with a PEI build plate which is about $15-20. It also supports network printing and is a good bit faster. Figure the SE will take perhaps 30% longer. Finally the X axis linear rail is a nice upgrade.

I think the SE is a good printer but I feel like the PEI build plate is almost a requirement. The rest are nice to haves.

Yes! It's worth it over the SE since I own a SE and you can print much more filament type with the KE.

Some Optional addon is buy yourself the Creality LED Lightbar, an Enclosure for ABS or Dust and print yourself a Gantry Support and Spool Holder relocator to reduce Gantry Wobbles when you're going to print at High or Max Speed.

I know this isn't the same but I got the SE during one of the recent deals for $92. It was my first printer. I enjoyed it so much, for a few weeks, that I bought a Bambu A1 Mini. I can't recommend it enough. It was absolutely worth the higher price of $200, even if it was twice+ as expensive & the build plate is something like 20% smaller. Maybe the distinction isn't as clear between the A1 Mini & the KE. But I'll probably stick to Bambu printers from now on, unless somebody else can eventually compete.

The gap between the KE and A1mini is smaller. While the SE can't do network printing, the KE does. The KE also has some level of input shaping but speed wise it's perhaps about mid way between the SE and A1m in speed. At regular price the A1mini is the nicer printer other than the small print area but for a similar price I see the Flashforge 5M when on sale for $240 is a better option vs the A1m.

The idea that you "learn" things tinkering with an Ender is like the idea that you "learn" things tinkering with an inkjet printer... When you could just get a Bambu and have the equivalent of a laser printer.

Based on what I read online and youtube and based on my experience with Bambu so far.

Bambu - Apple experience, polished, apps, everything just works. Windows/Mac app, Mobile app, send prints directly from websites -> printer thru the App! DEAD EASY to setup and use. Don't need to move SD cards around, just send everything thru the network and apps. I can have remote camera view of the progress, etc. I love it so much I'm getting a 2nd and more expensive Bambu printer in just 4 days of using the cheapest one because I find myself competing to use it so I need a 2nd printer lol.

Other 3D printers - it's like putting your PC parts together, learn a lot of how a printer works first before you get to enjoy good prints. Will be frustrating to many who just want to PRINT and now learn how a printer works and how to replace parts and hack stuff up. Some people like this and it's ok but Bambu is the way to go if you just want to PRINT and not have to worry about how the printer works.

I think the Apple - PC comparison might be more true that most realize. Apple has a reputation for just working but the reality is they don't always just work and if you try to do things in ways that Apple doesn't like they often don't work. That is pretty true for BL.

PCs have a reputation for always needed work and in the past that was quite true but over time it has become far less true to the point that many PCs "just work" even if they don't have that reputation and sometimes you feel it's in spite of rather than because of MS.

Plenty of non-BL printers are actually quite easy to use and very reliable, including some of the latest Creality products. However, BL was the first to "just work" at a reasonable price (looking at you Prusa) and the reputation has stuck. In addition, a lot of people were moving from the older generation of Enders etc into the BL did see a night and day difference. However, they might have seen the same if they moved to a Creality K1C or FF 5M.

I will also say that the idea that "learning" on an Ender isn't valuable on for work on a BL printer is perhaps not realistic. BL printers do a lot of things better than an older Ender but the lessons you can learn to make better prints on the Ender will typically also allow you to make better models for the BL as well.

And with no tinkering, how do you plan on troubleshooting or fixing issues with your Bambu Lab printer when it does start having problems later on after parts start wearing out on it? I have no issues with them, I just prefer to tinker to improve my printer. I bought a untested returned Ender 3 V3 SE a week or so back, turned out to be a open box never assembled or printed on printer. Paid 75 dollars for it. Most of my printers are returns that I fixed.
