I upgraded to this from an M1 iMac. So far I'm happy with the upgrade. It's noticeably faster though if you're on the fence the speed upgrade isn't a deal maker. I upgraded because of the price and being able to choose a monitor.

Yes, but personally I'd go with something 4K. MacOS is weird about scaling for lower resolutions like 1080p.

FYI if you're thinking about doing the edu deal but arent a student, Apple's fine print says they routinely audit and can randomly charge you the difference if they find evidence.

I have had the 24GB/512GB version for a few days paired up to my LG CX 48" OLED TV, and gotta say it's truly impressive what this little thing can do. Also, no more need for an adapter for 4K/120hz 10-bit, as it works perfectly from the HDMI 2.1 port.
