Makes me wonder, though -- the market is in a weird spot right now between ridding itself of inventory OR waiting until tariffs are active and knowing this could be worth more (aka "inventory profits ")

If we're 100% sure tariffs are coming, the market should already be pricing it in. I don't see that in consumer goods or in the stock market yet. I think most people believe it won't happen. The big boss just has to figure out the message first -- you campaign as tough on China, but once your advisors explain how you're about to destroy the middle class, I think some backpedaling will happen.

$.02, no politics, just economics

Just ordered one. My last scooter was hover-1 blackhawk. I rode that to work every workday for 3 years. It just died 2 weeks ago. Hope that this one can perform at least as good. Finders crossed

This scooter is an absolute nightmare. Purchased one this summer and have had nothing but problems with it, and Segway's customer service is awful. Seriously, cable companies have better customer service.

I'd stay away from any Segway products. Buyer beware.

I've got the blackhawk as well but not riding it as much because the battery level is pretty crap these days. I did buy the warranty thru allstate/walmart but heard they don't do anything. I wonder if this segway one is better overall. I really wanted to hold out for a powerful scooter with suspension as the roads in Mexico are really rough.

This runs counter to almost everything everyone else says. Can you go into more detail?

I'd have to agree with how bad customer service is. I bought an F40 refurbished last year and it took them 3 returned scooters and 6 months to finally give me my money back. Each time they sent me a scooter it was in worse shape than the time before! First I had a nasty rattle in the battery they took it in and I was never told what they did but when I got it back, it was now in worse shape and the fender came in broken, the cable hoses were missing grommets so they rubbed on exposed metal ends. CS took it back gave me another scooter that refused to drive on its own. And they offered to replace it with an e series scooter only.

Segway isn't known for great CS. Max is their premium line and has better build from their lesser scooters. I owned a Max G30 for a few years before moving on to another company. It's built like a tank and requires little maintenance.

If someone contacts CS for a Max I imagine it's to replace a tire or something too technical for them to diagnose.

Yes you can hack the start speed to be 0 mph. But it is a pretty good safety feature! It's not ideal if you can just lean on the throttle and the motor goes full blast even before you are scooting!
You'll eat a lot more battery too that way, always coming from a dead start. On the smaller LP battery that might not be manageable depending on the range you need.

is there an easy way to secure this when parked to avoid it being easily stolen? me a newbie to scooters. thanks
There's a feature that will lock the wheels to make it harder to roll, but the scooter has to be on for it to work, it's kind of weird. Of course they can always pick it up and run with it, so I use a good quality U-lock. Problem is to make sure it's big enough to get around the wide frame of the scooter and what you're locking it to, and not so big that someone could slide the scooter out.

Tarrif tax is gonna be game a changer. This gonna force our manufacturer to come back to us and hiding us workers instead overseas.

I have had one of these for 3 or so years and its been great. Had to replace the rear tire but other than that no issues. In for this refurb.

Just checked, my kids have put 2273 miles on it.

Thanks, I looked thru the pictures but cannot find anywhere you can insert a cable lock into, how would one do it with a lock/cable? Thanks

Sure: two main issues:

1) The scooter is poorly built. Back tire fell apart after less than a month of light riding. Went online, and discovered this is a super common problem, and unbelievably expensive to fix (almost impossible to repair yourself, even with tools/expertise). Simple internet search will show you how common this is with this scooter, and it sounds like, other Segway models. This model is particularly difficult to repair.

2) Started down the various levels of hell with Segway CS, and wasted weeks with them. End result: fix/repair would cost MORE than the original cost of the scooter. For a tire?!?!? Asinine.

This scooter is like buying kleenex: be prepared to throw it away after minimal use.

There are a bunch of videos on YouTube on how to replace tires for this scooter (doesn't look too difficult) and it looks like you can get a new set of knockoff tires on Amazon for like $40. What am I missing?

Sorry, I should have said wheel (tire malfunctioning was the tip off that there was something wrong with the wheel).
