Lowes has the Jorgensen 10-in Smooth Plane for @50. Shows free shipping in addition to store pickup for me.

Lower cost no.4 size wood hand planer which compares well in performance to much higher priced tools.
Decent reviews on Youtube on this with most reviewers stating that it is capable of good performance after some setup.

QA Note: Price will vary by location. If you see a higher price, try another zip code or city if you can.

Not too bad a plane for the price. Quick review of it and a lot of other planes from Wood by Wright How To: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k...nhI&t=974s

There are more details in the spreadsheet linked from that video.

Not bad if you can get it for that price. All stores around me are out of stock or are at full price.

It really depends on your mood. It can go as high as 10k volts if you are in a really bad mood.

Planes are good to have around in the shop and this seems like a reasonable deal. My closest store doesn't have it, but at least one other in my area does. I don't need more planes, so it'd have to be like $30 or less before I'd be tempted to travel an extra 15mi+ one way vs my closest store.

Anyone ever used this? The $20 one I got from Amazon is so hard to use I ended up getting a powered one instead

There were definitely some quality control issues in early batches (sole wasn't flat, chip breaker and irons not flat ground) but for the most part they've fixed those issues. I was trying to find an old Stanley to fix up but Ebay prices have been wild so I picked one of these up when they were like 60. Got see-through shavings out of the box and I was super impressed. I ended up flattening the sole a tiny bit but otherwise all I've done is round over all the sharp edges and it's been a workhorse. Excellent plane for the price.
