These aren't even the same models. The one over here is with the 120Hz OLED display and the one in your link is with the 60Hz IPS.
And if fan noise and bloatware are the things that turn you off then you might not be suitable for a laptop.

Costco also has a similar model (with 1900x1200 IPS vs this one's higher-res OLED).

Reviews of the 14" and 16" both mention loud fans at idle. This might have already been fixed by a software/BIOS update since not every reviewer complains about them, but you could probably "fix" it as well by choosing "Silent" mode (via the built-in Acer software).

Similar Lenovo Yoga 7i's and ASUS Vivobook S's don't have this pattern of complaints in their reviews, so I'm assuming it's due to Acer's fan profile, not inherent to the CPUs themselves.

Seems plausible to quiet down with some updates or setting adjustment. The CPU is relatively efficient, so loud fans means something off.

My son bought a similar spec HP for $1200 in Jan 2024, less than a year ago. So this is a great value.

Any experience with Acer Ebay Refund policy?

I see it say 30 days, but not sure if there are exclusions to it (I don't see anything that suggests it in the Ebay refund policy).

Want to make sure I have a true "try it out option" and if it doesn't fit my needs, I can return it

Good gaming laptop?
I recommend a Legion GO 1tb (~$500 ebay) over this, (easily beats this in gaming)
in the long run you'll always have an incredible handheld that can play almost everything, that's what I'm currently rocking,

and in combination of a UT3G ($100) egpu, with a 3080 ($350 on Ebay) you're playing everything at ultra and even with raytracing with a little framegen.

super versatile setup that you can buy in stages

Nah, nothing is off, it just means Acer put a H class cpu in a 14" ultra portable.

If the fans bother you, it would be very easy to throttle the CPU TDP in the bios to be more similar to a U class cpu.

BUT, chances are the fans will rarely kick on, and when they do its when you're working the CPU hard and will appreciate the extra speed.

I bought last years version of this laptop when everyone said it had terrible loud fans, but they almost never turn on and I love the laptop.

The original price is heavily exaggerated. I bought this exact laptop brand new in May for $800.

It looks like the same sale is active right now on Amazon:
Acer Swift Go 14 Intel Evo Thin & Light Laptop | 14" OLED 2880 x 1800 90Hz Display | Intel Core Ultra 7 Processor 155H | Intel ARC | 16GB LPDDR5X | 1TB SSD | SFG14-72-72YK
https://a.co/d/3iRc6Nh

I ended up returned the laptop. 16 GB RAM was not enough for me. I also didn't like the 155H CPU, it didn't feel super responsive. I returned it specifically to get AMD's 8845HS with 32 GB RAM.

This Acer did have some really nice features though. I really like the feeling of the casing, it felt sturdy and durable. The finger print scanner worked really well. And it also had a 2nd m.2 slot that was pretty easily accessible.

How's 8845HS working for you? I'm considering that CPU for a laptop too. Mainly for kids to play Minecraft, Fortnite, Roblox

Acer has the AMD version for $700 https://store.acer.com/en-us/swif...14-42-r2tl - Which chips are better? I keep seeing the intel chip can get hot.

I got this one in a past deal and I am not impressed with this laptop.

I wish I would've returned it. It's weak, super flexible (palm rest). Literally got one that was bowing and got it replaced, then the next one is already showing signs.

It also doesn't process audio very well (USB input) and just isn't working as well as I hoped for USB-C (Thunderbolt) ports.

Obviously not apples to apples -- but if the build/case is anything similar I do not recommend.

The link you provided is entirely a different laptop. Weaker in almost everything
