Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

The amount of partial info or unclear/unconvincing info here is through the roof... unless I was already a customer of either of these providers (and not caring about unlock) I'd have no confidence in getting an unlock without paying 60 days of the cheapest service and waiting it out.
The last time I gambled on a walmart deal like this I got an iphone 13 mini for free. Some times you gotta play to win.woot

Are we sure this is not $299 AFTER credits over 36 months??
Confirmed it's $299.
Pulled the trigger on a midnight 256. Agreement shows full retail price is $299.
This is going overseas end of January. Either pay 2 months of service (5th line) or pay off and cancel but need to confirm it can be unlocked after 60 days without service or it must be in service.
Also, as long as WM doesn't screw this up. Had an Xr for free some years ago, then an 11 took six months for Verizon to catchup and charge me.

just placed the orderMacBook was giving me the work flow errordid it on my iPhone using safari. logged in to my account, it opened up the verizon account to allow access to Walmart.I placed the order.looks like $19.82 in taxes. should be here Thursday.I picked the cheapest plan. hopefully others can chime in who have done a similar deal beforewill we have to pay the full month if we cancel within 3 days?should we cancel the line first and then pay off the device? or pay off device ($300) and then cancel the line?
Had to use the app which then put me on Safari (iOS) worked.

It was a similar deal that was posted here. Quite a few of us got in on it.
Walmart nor ATT/Verizon ever charged us anything and we were able to unlock the phone.

What are the monthly postpaid rates for VZ - Want to know, but it seems like they want all my info beforehand... if anyone can share, it would be appreciated. It's only for 1 line that I will be porting from another carrier.

i went ahead and bit. brand new account. only browser it would work in was chrome incognito. the order says iphone 14 256 so it should be an easy return if a 6s arrives well see how the pay in full/3 day activation/ unlocking goes. good deal on a 256 if it works out in the end. said $299 for the phone, but no down payment., so $0.00 order from walmart (no tax in oregon) $8.31+$75+$35=$118 was my first potential verizon bill. i wish i wrote down the number they assigned to me in the legal docs....now i have to wait for phone.
finally! the incognito made it work. i was getting the "Agreement 2" error for hours. thanks for the tip

correct, I did that after being denied the first time. I tried an experiment, after the first 3 days, I took out the sim and put it in an old android phone I have laying around. it reset the timer.

looks like they got even more strict.
I remember a few years ago messaging tforce on twitter and they would unlock my devices without the 40 day requirement as you experienced.
i activate and go back to my old phone every time. How did you figure out timer reset?
always unlocked automatically for me so far..

Careful - I know this changed recently... My understanding is now they HAVE to be active. Could be wrong...
what do you mean by active? the line or the specific phone?

I got in the iphone 13 verizon deal last year. Then I was able to create a verizon account, and then pay it off without problems and also get the phone unlocked. Given that I cancelled the account verizon then, if I were to do the deal again, I should do it as a new verizon customer, right. Just wanting to make sure that I dont run into any issues. Thanks!
