Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

For my order shipping label has been created this morning. FedEx, signature required. Not sure overnight or 2 day.

I'm also new to Verizon. Should I register for an account using the email address used during the purchase process? Just got a email from Verizon mentioning email has been changed on my account and no other communication. Can someone pls suggest here?

Also pls post any old thread which details the steps to payoff and cancel line for Verizon.

Thanks OP and SD'ers

Mine shipped yesterday fedex home and won't be delivered until Monday. Hopefully the clock actually starts when it is activated.

I have to say BIG THANKS to ProudToBeAnIndian for another killer iPhone deal. Folks, the long and short of these deals is this: it's a bit of a hassle to jump through all the hoops, i.e. signing up for Verizon service, but canceling withing 72 hours, etc.; however, in the end it works out just like the OP has laid out in several previous posts and you save a good chunk of money to get a brand spankin' new phone that will unlock in 60 days for less than you will find anywhere else. Big Ups to this SD'er who I've personally benefited from twice this year.
Can you help some of us out...

With verizon, can we pay off the $300 at a verizon in store kiosk or does it have to be with an agent?

We cancel the line right after paying off the $300? Or cancel the line and then pay?

Sorry for the questions, first time doing one of these deals since I have a verizon account.

Does anyone have experience with AT&T iphones on installment plans? I see that I can get $1000 credit for my current phone and get myself an iPhone 16 Pro. I'm currently on Mint and don't really want an AT&T plan. How crazy is my idea of getting the deal through AT&T, activating their service, immediately paying off the phone, unlocking the phone, then cancelling the contract and moving back to Mint? The plan says there's no contract.

Right now, I think folks need to grab the 256g's before they are gone. They are the best deal of the year for iphone 14!

Purchased two phones on evening 11/11.
Shipped morning of 11/12
Today they show arriving tomorrow by 8pm
Today got the email that they were activated on 11/12
During the first 30 days, the devices need to be paid in store (I would go to a Verizon corporate)

The clock is ticking - these better arrive by tomorrow with enough time to go to a store to pay.

For those that did these deals in the past with Verizon:

* What's the process to pay in full and cancel?
* Do you go to a Verizon corporate store?
* Do you pay in full at a kiosk or tell them you need to pay in full?
* Can you also cancel the line right after or you do it online?
* How do you verify the device is unlocked after 60 days? Does it need to be connected to WiFi? (In the past I would do a DFU restore via iTunes and I would get a message that the device is unlocked).

TIA.

Otherwise can it be paid online if store gets closed by the time it arrives?

Looking to do an upgrade on my ATT line, im getting these just so that i can pay it off and turn them around for a good trade in value to get a different phone. Do i need to activate these or can i just receive the product, pay it off and submit it for a trade in? I like my current device and dont want to switch to an iphone 14.

They activate automatically? You don't have to activate it yourself? I am getting confused because I did the iPhone 13 Straighttalk deal as well. My iPhone 14 is arriving tom too but I didn't get an activation email.
When we receive the phone this is the order of things to do
1. Pay it off at Verizon store
2. Ask to cancel it there
3. Wait 60 days for it to unlock
Feels weird paying it off then canceling service at the same time.

I went through this process with Verizon a few days ago (but for a $399 deal from a different thread. I'm still butthurt over this lol). I don't have a Walmart nearby so I had it shipped.
To answer your questions first
  • There is no option to pay off the device on the app or with an agent on the phone, as it's been less than 30 days. So you have to go to a store
  • At the store, you will be asked to pay $299 cash. No option for credit card or debit card
  • You can cancel the line RIGHT after paying off the device while you are still at the store. I was told by the store clerk that you can't cancel the line before paying off the device. So it would have to be in this order
Additional information for those who are considering this
  • The phone took 4 days to be delivered. The clock for the 3-day-activation window starts when it ships. So if you are having it delivered, expect to give up the activation fee and a few days' worth of pro-rated monthly plan
  • Expect the activation fee + pro-rated balance to be around 45 - 48 dollars, including tax, depending on how quickly it was shipped to you. So your total out of pocket = 299 + tax on the phone + 48
  • Depending on who you talk to at the store or on the phone, you may hear a different story about whether the phone will still unlock in 60 days, since you cancelled the service early. So really we are just going by other people's word who apparently went through this in previous years

Same exact thing here. Ordered one on the 11tg. Got the email a few minutes ago saying it was activated yesterday, the 12th

Mine should be here tomorrow.
I'm thinking of just going to verizon right now and paying off the $300 since there has to be a direct signature. Don't want to miss the fedex driver tomorrow

Worst case scenario we cancel the whole transaction ?
