Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

I was one of the first to order. Got my iPhone 14 yesterday. I upgraded from an ATT line. Paid it off yesterday. Sent the unlock request today and now it's unlocked. Easy and fast. Maybe it's because I've had ATT for 5 years so it might be different for others.
I received the package today, but I couldn't find any account number details in either the email or the Walmart box. Could you let me know where I can find the account number to pay off the balance in full? My account is with Verizon.

URGENT! URGENT!

I received a phone from Walmart, but I couldn't find the account number details inside the box. I forgot to record the account number when I placed the order.
Anyone know where I can find the account number? Do I need to contact Verizon customer care for this?
Thanks for your assistance!
Can't you turn on the phone and once it registers it'll tell you the phone number?

I think you can get that from Verizon portal, you can register as a new user and link your phone number, you would need phone number ,account pin and zip code

What I did was what the OP suggested - after activation, set up the online account, make sure you have a credit card on file, and then call the automated system to pay off device, follow prompts, then cancel service
thanks!
So I should get mine tomorrow and that will be the '3rd day'
hopefully I can call up and cancel it. I just tried it with my main verizon line but it's trying to pay off that device and doesn't give me an option for the new iPhone 13

looks like the call has to be made from the new device.
also, did they remove all the fees? I'm checking the bill now and it's showing like $86 so far....and that's on the cheapest plan for this line.

Last year with the iPhone 13 deal, I paid $298+ tax at Walmart store and left $1 balance as the agent told me that I can't pay off the phone before the first month bill is generated. Then as suggested by many in the deal thread I added a credit card in my Verizon account and next day called Verizon customer service number and paid that $1 off by phone using the automated options. After that canceled the line via chat. I am not sure why this is not an option anymore.

did you call and pay using the phone/phone number from that new line?

I went through this process with Verizon a few days ago (but for a $399 deal from a different thread. I'm still butthurt over this lol). I don't have a Walmart nearby so I had it shipped.
To answer your questions first
  • There is no option to pay off the device on the app or with an agent on the phone, as it's been less than 30 days. So you have to go to a store
  • At the store, you will be asked to pay $299 cash. No option for credit card or debit card
  • You can cancel the line RIGHT after paying off the device while you are still at the store. I was told by the store clerk that you can't cancel the line before paying off the device. So it would have to be in this order
Additional information for those who are considering this
  • The phone took 4 days to be delivered. The clock for the 3-day-activation window starts when it ships. So if you are having it delivered, expect to give up the activation fee and a few days' worth of pro-rated monthly plan
  • Expect the activation fee + pro-rated balance to be around 45 - 48 dollars, including tax, depending on how quickly it was shipped to you. So your total out of pocket = 299 + tax on the phone + 48
  • Depending on who you talk to at the store or on the phone, you may hear a different story about whether the phone will still unlock in 60 days, since you cancelled the service early. So really we are just going by other people's word who apparently went through this in previous years
Should I pay off the at store before receiving the phone? Is that allowed?

Yes it was last year. Called the customer service line from the new phone to pay it off. When chatted with the agent after playing off the device they canceled the line and I had to mention nicely to waive activation since I canceled it within 3 days. It was initially showing something around $60 then the prorated amount went back to $7. But I had to mention and chat again with another agent to make sure they indeed waived the activation.

I just log into my ATT account to pay it off.

Can anyone confirm the verizon unlock policy?? From what I read, it auto unlocks after 60days, regardless of service, as long it is paid off...

OMG the charges are crazy... Granted, I'm waiting for these phones to arrive tomorrow to cancel them but the charges for next month are as follows (note that I have 4 lines, so this will go up to six):

One time charges/credits:
Unlimited Welcome 11/12 to 11/19 $6.10
Activation fee $35

Monthly charges/credits:
Unlimited Welcome 11/19 to 12/18 $27 ($10 autopay credit)
Device Payment 1 of 36 $8.50

Surcharges $11.84
Taxes and gov fees $5.04

Total for line $93.48, then drops off to $40.62

This the consensus in r/Verizon even from the V fan boys. So I take this as fact..
