Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

My phones got activated on Tuesday, when they shipped. They are arriving today.

Is this for lines that you would have to sign up with either AT&T or Verizon Postpaid plans (just like this iPhone 14 deal)?

Also I wonder what they will price the iPhone 15 as, because currently it's $18.09/month, or approximately $649 total cost. With a gift card for $500, it wouldn't be a bad deal. But one downside to more expensive phones is that you have more money invested in it from the outset. I guess for people who spend lot at Walmart on a regular basis, this would be good. Or as another commenter wrote, if for those who still want to remain loyal to Verizon or AT&T for the next 36 months and who want to upgrade more than one phone to use one gift card (provided they get the gift card delivered instantly) as a down payment toward a second device.
Back when they had deals for Xr and 11, they had a $450 WM gift card. But the phones were higher by about $100 from retail price.

Also, the deals were available both in store and online. In store, it was a nightmare as they couldn't do that many and ran out quickly. Pros were you got the GC on the spot. Online the first year, we got the GCs in a couple of days. But they second year, the GC came in after a month. Unless you got it in store, you couldn't cancel and get the activation fee returned.

Finally, out of those two deals - one of them Verizon never got the financing agreement so yes, the phone ended up being totally free - was used for 3+ years and eventually traded in for a new 14. The other one, Verizon caught up to the agreement after six months.

Leave in drawer for 60 days.
For Verizon, that's it.
For AT&T, you request an unlock (no idea how)

Although the 14 is newer, it does use the same processor as the 13, but it does have more memory.

The true deal on this is the 256gb.

Same with me. Sitting without update for 2 days. Only FedEx label was created. My guess is Walmart logistics handles it for some distance before it hands over to Fedex.
Just wondering if there is any delay and we will miss the under 3 day cancellation. Is there a way for us to pay off before device arrives?. I do not have the new phone number as well. New to Verizon.

Three days from the date of shipping. The worst case scenario, you will loose the $35 activation charge, which is not bad.
