Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

Thanks OP, was able to order one and delivery is pushed to 11/20. Tried to register the ph no on my Verizon app and it keep failing with a message 'Your account type is not supported in my verizon', has anyone experienced this issue? Used the same email used for ordering though, any help appreciated. Maybe too early to register?
I had the same thing ... I'm guessing you have a Verizon home account and not a Verizon mobile account .. try going to your account settings and see if you see the option of creating your Verizon oneid which combines them. When you do that it will ask you for the mobile number and link it.

Just received my phone today, but calling Verizon to pay off, getting an error message for not elligible for payoff, need to wait until Dec 11, I order on Nov 12, so it is definitely within 3 days, wondering if Verizon changed the policy
Look at the Wiki - the number there lets you pay it off early once you have a credit card on file.

If I cancel the line then payoff the phone later would it still be unlocked after 60 days ?
Can you please help me?
Yes. If Verizon, try what I did from the Wiki - YMMV but worth a shot. Else wait 60 days.

How is iphone 14 compared with 13 in terms of battery performance?
14 a bit better than 13 mostly because it has more memory. Processor is the same though.

I got my Verizon iPhone 14 today 11/14 after ordering the phone on 11/11. I followed these steps below like many people shared and was able to cancel the service without an activation fee. I hope the phone is unlocked after 60days.
1) activate the phone
2) create VZW account and link with the new number during 1st login
3) add a credit card
4) call 8008374966 and pay off the phone bill $299
5) call VZW customer care 8009220204 and cancel the service. A new updated bill(waive the activation fee and prorated bill) will be issued in 2weeks.

This information about having a payment on file is BS. Delay of payment probably has to do with you being a new Verizon customer which many here do not mention. I had to call and talk to an agent to get the phone paid off and disconnected.

Lucky you. I ordered 11/12, it shipped today 11/14, I will receive 11/18.

Honestly, I don't understand why people are still interested in 13 now. It is no longer sold by Apple, less memory, half storage, yet still over $240.

Thanks for the reply, don't have home internet account though, it's a new account and no option to combine available in the account settings, will try once it gets shipped.

Not sure why it didn't work for you, I'm a new VZN customer, I added a credit card as payment method to my account and it allowed me to pay off the device in an automated way by calling that number, I could see that it reflected in the account in payment history as well.

Yes. I created a Verizon acct right after I ordered the phone on 11/12. I paid it off yesterday 11/13 through automated call (check back a few pages). I checked my Verizon account and a bill is already available. I chatted with a rep and cancelled the line today 11/14 before even getting the phone. Then the phone arrived and I just need to wait for it to unlock. I don't have the updated bill yet so not sure how much I need to pay for the 2-3 days.
I did the same. I ordered on 11/12 device shipped on 11/14.and my delivery is on 11/20.but able to log in to my account, and my bill got generated. I had a chat with the live agent and requested cancelation . He allowed me to payoff the device and canceled and owe $0 billl. I am still waiting for the device. I have to wait for 60 days and see if it gets unlocked.

On the fence to order and try canceling before I receive the phone (it would arrive in 8 days)... But even if I manage to do it, will it still unlock in 60 days?

Is there a specific reason why majority are getting the Verizon iPhone?
I'm on AT&T prepaid and don't mind if the phone is locked. Can I order the AT&T version, pay it off and only pay for 1 month of service?

oh, i was using it as an example. it was last year promotion when i bought ip13 then turn around and trade in for ip15 pro.
Gotcha. I think that AT&T had a trade-in value for the iPhone 15 pro lineup but think they just changed it in the last few days.
