Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

AT&T customer here. Got an 14 256gb in the mail yesterday, paid off yesterday morning, I got it unlocked today and now gonna order a second one on that same line I added for this deal, hopefully it works the same.open the box, make a phone call on the new iphone. Then do the eSIm swap youtself if you have another unlock iPhone with you. once you do transfer the eSim, make a phone call on the unlocked phone. log into MyATT, see if the new unlocked phone show up in your new line. Then request unlock as non ATT member at Att unlock website. Once confirmed it's unlocked just restart the phone and check under settings that it has no sim restrictions and you're good to go.
Does it have to be an esim for an unlocked Iphone or can it be an esim for an unlocked android phone for example?

Honestly I don't know, I've only used iPhone, but I don't see why it wouldn't work with an android so long as you can make the transfer yourself. I didn't call to transfer the esim I did it straight from the phone itself

Same boat. Did you get it resolved? If so, can you pls say how?

Just received the phone today, activated it, was trying to pay it off, but it says it is paid off, chatted with an agent, and he told me the system is not updated yet so I have to wait one month to pay it off, I hope it will be quicker, does anyone know how long it takes or should I go to a verizon store or to walmart? thank you

Have neither of you read earlier how to do this? It's been mentioned at least a dozen times.

Same. I added my credit card on Verizon website, and then tried to call Verizon number a few times but they sent the link saying my device was paid off. No charge on my credit card.
I did activate the phone, made a few phone calls between this phone and my other phone to make sure the line is active. Then I had to chat with 3 different agents until someone can cancel my line. I made sure she waived the activation fee, but the remaining bill is still around $73 ish. I even asked the agent if the phone had been paid off and she said she saw no payment due on the device. Then she went ahead and canceled my service.
Probably the future bill will reflect the $299 that I need to pay the phone off + the correct amount for my usage. I'm scared if my phone is stuck in limbo and can never be unlocked. 🙃
I already did this once last year with the iphone 13 so I knew this is gonna be a long fight, anyway.

Same issue, unable to payoff , it keeps sending sms link to chat or asking to wait for representative. Any luck? Tried 4 to 5 times to the number in wiki and calling from non verizon phone

Create a new account with Verizon, add your Verizon line number, and activate your online account. Once activated, you'll be able to view all the details on your account page.
I created a new account. But it gives me a link my existing service page where you can choose phone number or account number. I only have the phone from the contract but it asks for a pin I don't have. How do I get the pin?

my experience, brand new verizon customer

ordered the phone on 11/12 (this was the activation date on record)
received it today (11/15)
turned it on, activated it, got the phone number

made an account on the myverizonapp and added a credit card
called the phone# in wiki from a different phone.(and followed the steps there)
easy payoff of $299.
Then used the wiki directions to disconnect service, took about 15min
got everything but $11 waived, need to wait 10-15 days for final bill.
yay!

now to play around with the unlock, or just wait
