Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

I have a problem. Verizon will not let me pay off the phone until 12/13/24. I tried several times. Is this beyond the window of cancellation? I ordered the phone on 11/13. Thanks
pay off via bot over call. say something like device pay off.

i had some issue with pay off but it was my bank which triggered fraud alert. then when i approved my bank and tried again to pay off, it went smoothly.

Not true! I already got my attn iPhone unlocked the next day after I received it you just gotta know what steps to take to do it
Thanks for the information regarding ATT's early unlock, I went with them based on that.

A couple of questions if you don't mind:

1) Any trouble with paying the device off? Did you need to contact support over phone? Success with live chat? Or even logged into myATT and did it over the site? And last part: How did the activation and prorated plan fee work? Refunded or had to pay both?

2) Did you wait the 24 hours after paying the device off? If someone were to start the unlock process, will it error out and have to wait a specified time?

Thanks again Smilie

Perhaps all paid-off devices are automatically unlocked.
Well - Device shows as locked.
I guess something is not syncing up

"*** Request early unlock (huge YMMV but worth a shot) *** Login to your Verizon account Start a chat Ask them to submit a "request for early SIM unlock on your behalf" For reason, simply say "device is paid in full" Be ready for some pushback or if you want PUK unblock, or porting pin - just state the same If they say it cannot be done, tell them politely that you are aware they cannot do it, and they need to send a request up the line In my case they send to contact in 10 days (not holding my breath this will actually happen but worth a shot)*** Disconnectiong line *** Login to your Verizon account Start a chat Request an agent If asked, about plans/service Say disconnect line They will try to offer you other options or to disconnect at a later date Insist you need the line disconnected now If asked for a reason, say you cannot give them one Verify total under Account, Bill, Next bill estimate - about $7 for 3 days of service"If I want to try unlock with Verizon, should I cancel or should I unlock first? Just paid off the device. Thanks!
Tried this - didnt work. Agent mentioned - It should remain active for 60 days after which it will unlock automatically

The Verizon 256GB Starlight description says "It is fully functional and has been professionally refurbished, inspected and cleaned to good condition.".

Do you think thats a mistake?

I had to call in and talk to an agent to get my phone number. After that, I added my credit card to the payment methods and paid off the phone using the automated system. Went to the chat and typed in Unlock device - the device in question was displayed. When I selected that, I got a message saying that the phone is already unlocked ! I thought we were supposed to wait for 60 days.btw - I havent opened the box yet.
just did the same. Bot replied with "Based on your account info, your device is unlocked and no code is needed to program it for use with an international carrier." So probably this is unlocked for international carriers, not for domestic ones??? TIA

Yet to get phone but I have the phone number it displayed during checkout process.

While trying to setup account it keeps on erroring that zipcode is not matching (but it is same billing zipcode with Walmart order). Any ideas on this ?

I then called 800 number and entered phone number and then payoff but surprising it said total amount due is $130.79 which looks to be ?? (Activation fee plus first month). I couldn't validate pin that it asked as I don't have it.

yes or you can request agent to unlock before 60 days. I am planning to trade in so it doesn't matter.

Has anyone done this deal, but doing an upgrade as opposed to creating a new line on ATT? Curious what the fees would be like.
