Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

I have a feeling WM screwing up again with these orders and not passing the info of the sales to Verizon or ATT.

I had done deals like this with an Xr and an 11. At the time, you financed the full amount but they gave you a GC up front. One of them ended up being free (plus the GC) as Verizon never got the lease agreement. The other one they caught up after six months.

I would not recommend this deal for an upgrade. You may be able to get a 15 or 16 for same price or even free. Look for special loyalty offers. Recently we upgraded a line to a 16 pro for $5 a month for 36 months (could have done a regular 16 for free), no trade at all, and no need to switch plans from Unlimited Welcome (most basic plan).
loyalty with monthly credit or contract is trash

They maybe are unlocked for international use. They are still locked for Verizon though.
yes - when I checked on the device - it shows as locked. Verizon Agents asked me to check after 60 days

You need to check when is the effective date of the cancellation. Because reps would set it for a week later instead of day you call. Your final bill should show the days in service. If more than 3 days, then the $35 activation fee stays.
I got the activation fees waived but have a charge of 93 $ showing up. The agent told me that it will take 5 business days to resolve this. I should get it credited back on Nov 22

my line was cancelled right away that the call was disconnected while I was talking with CS. And within minutes my verizon account stopped showing any active line. And that was the 3rd day of placing order

Did you physically turn on phone before cancelling?

Same. Can someone please post the steps to pay off AT&T iPhone 14 and cancel the plan to get it unlocked (even if it is after 60 days). I'm not able to find the steps involved. Thanks so much.

Yes. I jumped on it the first day and it was shipped overnight the next day. So I had phone in my hand on 3rd day. Activated it, got my number, linked with my account, paid off and then cancelled it.

Agree with you on this. Neither of my Verizon phones were activated upon arrival. Called CSR and they said the Terms and Conditions weren't accepted and the contract isn't complete. Said to go discuss with WM to remedy the issue.

T&Cs were obviously reviewed / completed on my end as WM charged me tax and shipped the phones. Now I get to spend several hours trying to remedy the issues with WM and Verizon and likely won't get anywhere with it. Debating whether to even mess with it. My luck they'll update something 6 months later and the contract will execute. Should have just purchased 2 of the Straight Talk iPhone 13s instead.

Pertaining to Verizon, seems to me many of you are confusing phone activation with line activation. The line is activated when your phone ships, the phone is activated when you turn it on. If you cancel the line before turning the phone on, the 60 day unlock timer never started. You may get stuck with a Verizon locked phone, which may be difficult to unlock later since it becomes a BYOD phone.
This is not correct for eSim.

Is anybody facing any issue in placing the order online? I have been trying since yesterday and have been getting an error "To visit the nearest Walmart store to upgrade the device". Visited Walmart and Verizon stores, however they could not help, have been in multiple calls with Walmart customer service and they mentioned that there is an issue with online orders and trying to fix it soon. Just wanted to see if anybody else is facing similar issues like me.

I got my Verizon phone today and able to install Tmobile e-sim (move my existing number). Looks like my phone was unlocked when I paid in full. My account with Verizon is closed already while the phone was in transit. I am a new Verizon customer.
