Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

Go to Verizon coperate store if you have 1 near by.
The phones ship from WM warehouses, not Verizon.

I got/ordered Verizon phone today, I created verizon account, they need account number? so do I need to wait tell I receive the phone and after activation, it should provide you the phone number and from there you can sign into Verizon to pay off the bill and cancel the line?

Also the phopne cost on apple is around $800, so we are really not getting a good deal. If the new phone cost was 1100-1400, that would make it sweet to flip it with all the taxes and fees get jammed on you.

Yes and it is also registered in my Tmobile account. I will check with Tmobile if they can unlock my device
It is possible that it is now locked by Tmobile because it was first turned on/activated by Tmobile. Interesting. Thanks again for sharing!

These iPhones are flex locked so it's possible it got locked to T-Mobile when you started with T-Mobile eSIM so yours is not perhaps unlocked but locked to tmobile

Why not a good deal if you only spend $306?

In other words, if it is turned on without a carrier once you cancel the line with Verizon before receiving the phone, it should be unlocked? Or is this my wishful thinking?

I have the same problem, except with Lasership. Very bad feeling about iphone thefts by WM insiders perhaps.
Oh wow. that is not good. Should I escalate to Walmart customer service maybe?? What should I do?

*** How to update Apple purchase date ***
From your Verizon online account, go to Account, Bill, Documents & receipts
Download the Customer Agreement PDF that has the service agreement and IMEI and barcodes
Go to https://checkcoverage.apple.com
Enter serial number
If it says no purchase date found, continue to create a case and request a call back
Upload the PDF
After the call back they said it could take up to 5 days for the date to be reflected
I checked the serial after 5 minutes and it was updated

My Customer Agreement doesn't have the IMEI or barcodes. So I contacted apple and shared my serial number with purchase details and was updated within 5 minutes. Now the waiting game starts.

Because yours was supposed to be delivered today, you can't escalate now. Wait for 48 hours, contact Walmart and ask for a refund/replacement if you still don't receive it.

Thanks, but to unlock I have to be active with them for 60 days ? That's what I was able to gather from comments. So need to try sim swap ?

I just called Tmobile and as per the API bot it have to call Verizon to unlock the device. I am planning to trade it for 16 so it doesn't matter

Ok, but when I ordered it said Saturday originally then it got delayed to Sunday. Surely they can't just keep pushing it back?? I'll try Tuesday contacting them
