could you please let us know when did you disconnet the service? before or after turning on the phone? Thanks
I did it after turning on the phone. I'd say try contacting them about the sim unlock before disconnecting the line (check WIKI for steps)

Try calling again multiple times.
I am an idiot. I did not have a payment method associated with the phone, that's why when calling 1-800-837-4966 to pay off the device, it simply texted a link to the new phones to chat with a Chatbot. As soon as I associated a payment method (a credit card in my case), I was able to call 1-800-837-4966 to pay off the device, and paid the device off without talking to a human being. I was also able to disconnect the service online, while still in the account portal, BUT THE DISCONNECT IS SCHEDULED ONE MONTH A WAY. I will call tomorrow to request disconnect immediately. Thank you OP and thank you everyone, this is a good deal so far!

You can contact them via chat to disconnect immediately and get the prorated payment for the monthly plan. Also, they waive off the activation fee if its 3 days or less.

need help! I disconnected a line, and then decided to update this iphone to ios 18.1, it updated, and now it offered to transfer esim, which I did, trasferred redpocket sim , and it was deleted on the old iphone, and not activated on iphone 14 and said sim not supported. So, it got stuck here, I cannot access settings, and esim is in the new iphone 14, it doesn't let me to erase it from settings, doesn't go beyond activation menu......any suggestions? thank you
recovered esim, but iphone 14 now is not activating since the line was disconnected , I hope it will still be unlocked after 2 months, right?

In for one from Verizon, but arrival is apparently not until 23rd… let's see what happens - hopefully comes sooner than later.

Can someone confirm these details are correct?
1) timer to cancel before 3 days starts once shipped. If you don't, you're in for a $35 activation fee
2) line is activated once shipped, but phone is not - so for 60 day unlock, need to have phone in hand and turned on to begin phone unlock timer
3) once line is activated, can setup Verizon account, and add payment method, then call 1-800-836-4966 to pay off device
4) once phone is on, you can cancel the line.
5) Your total amount will be 299 + tax + prorated line charge (+ activation fee if not cancelled within 3 days of device being shipped)

In other words, if it is turned on without a carrier once you cancel the line with Verizon before receiving the phone, it should be unlocked? Or is this my wishful thinking?
AFAIK, these are flex locked, so gets locked to the carrier it starts with.

Thanks, but to unlock I have to be active with them for 60 days ? That's what I was able to gather from comments. So need to try sim swap ?
From https://www.att.com/support/artic...KM1262649/. It explicitly mentioned you don't have to be a current attorney customer, so just requesting after 60 days like VZW should work

"AT&T will automatically unlock eligible Apple and Google devices that are active on an AT&T account.

FYI: Don't have an account with AT&T? You can still unlock an AT&T device once it meets all requirements.

Unlock requirements

The following criteria must be met to unlock an AT&T device.

Device bought 60+ days ago
You purchased your AT&T Wireless device more than 60 days ago. It isn't active on another AT&T account.

Device paid in full
Your paid for your device in full at purchase or paid it off through an installment plan. Your installment balance must be zero before unlocking.
Device not reported lost/stolen
Your device hasn't been reported lost, stolen, or involved in fraud.

Account is current
If you're a current AT&T customer, your bill can't be past due. To make a payment, sign in to your account."

I purchased with Verizon for 128 GB, Successfully processed workflow and add a line to my existing verizon account. I received my device today and I don't see a cellular service. It is asking me to transfer e-sim from an Iphone or Scan QR Code to get started. When I logged into my verizon account I don't see the new line added. I only see my existing lines. As of now I paid only taxes. Since I don't see a new line what are my options here?

Can I use my existing line to unlock this device and not for the device? Or should I check with verizon customer care to add a new line and activate this device under monthly agreements?

I got my Verizon phone today and able to install Tmobile e-sim (move my existing number). Looks like my phone was unlocked when I paid in full. My account with Verizon is closed already while the phone was in transit. I am a new Verizon customer.
Could you please let me know how did you install T-mobile eSim? Via T-moblie online chat and sent them IMEI? Seems like I will receive the phone tomorrow. And need to do the same. THANKS!!!

I have a different concern:
I got the phone, paid it off (Verizon) and cancel the line to wait for 60 days to get it unlocked.
However, going through the settings, I noticed the standard Apple Warranty is expired. Don't apple provides Manufacturer's warranty for a year?
The box was sealed when I got it and do not shows signs of refurbished or open box (battery life is 100%).
Not sure what's the deal here.
Contact Apple - they can fix it for you. I've done this multiple times with purchases from WM. Apple will walk you through the steps and verify the purchase date.

Just Placed order at 8.31 for att which was added to my cart last night and it stays there for 24 hours. Was actually waiting for queries to be cleared before I pulled trigger. With price increase, I had to take my chances on old locked price.
