Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

You have to chat with a live rep instead of the chat bot

Just select the different color. It will; work.
Thank you for the deal and repped. After lot of hesitation from the past deals I jumped on this one. Finally received it through ontrac. I guess I need to see how I can reactivate the line so that it can unlock later on its own!šŸ¤žšŸ»

My steps for paying off device: Added cc to the account. My Verizon account showed "These devices aren't eligible to be paid off.". Called the robo voice line 800-837-4966 from a non-verizon number, entered the phone# & pin for the account and the robo said "in a sentence or two, say what you are calling about". I said "Pay off device" and the robot automatically paid off the remaining balance using my cc. Thx all for the detailed instructions.

For billing purposes, activation starts with shipping; for unlocking purposes, activation starts with phone turning on. What a scam!
with newly received phone not turned yet. Check coverage on apple.com. Saw below on apple.com

My Verizon phone was carrier locked. Wasn't able to activate Tracfone eSIM. Chatted with Verizon agent and they basically said phone will remain locked for 60 days (gave some crappy fraud prevention excuse). I told the chat agent that I had no use for the line if that's the case and the agent helped with disconnecting the line. Gotta wait 2 months now šŸ˜”
