Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

True - I dont want to be stuck with a locked phone. I dont want take my chances - wait for 2 months - then check. If the phone is unlocked, I can call in and disconnect completely. If not unlocked, I will be paying for 2 months of service and then disconnecting it.
My total came to 28$ for the two months. waived off the activation fees.

I bought the VZ version, the line is disconnected now. is it possible before it is unlocked, use it on Xfinity or Straight or Tracfone? does doing this affect the unlocking date?

I have a question about the who done activation process when using an eSIM swap to activate the T-Mobile network with a new phone.
  1. The phone was directly activated on the T-Mobile network. What happens if the phone hasn't been activated on Verizon's network first for the required 60 days? After the 60-day period, will the phone automatically unlock, even though it has been swapped to a T-Mobile eSIM?

I think you might be stuck even after 60 days. What's your opinion on this?πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

I did on the same day. The representative was so helpful to let me know what is going on with my device and account. She activated new line and discounted the plan for me without charging an activation fee. I asked politely and she helped me. But I canceled the line in store and not online.
So did you cancel again after re-activating?

That phone is officially locked to T-Mobile under the US Reseller Flex policy. These iPhones initially unlocked, but these devices are programmed to lock to the first network that the device connects to at activation.( In this case T-Mobile)

How long will this be locked to Tmobile? Who will have the authority to unlock in the future?

T-Mobile can submit a request to whitelist it.

Nice - wonder if it works on xfinity mobile also since it's a similar MVNO. Haven't been able to try yet since I have a physical SIM.
It does show compatible on xfinity checker but I was using US mobile so that worked out.

Visible didn't work.

US Mobile works before 60 day unlock, how? Did you simply not activate the Verizon line or delete your verizon esim before adding us mobile esim? Or did you add the US Mobile esim alongside the Verizon esim in the iPhone?
Usually the parent's company network locked phone are compatible with MVNO. So I am using US Mobile verizon based and it worked on verizon locked.

I didn't have to set a pin when placing an order via Walmart
I am not sure in that case. Maybe once you receive phone and activate it by powering it on, then you can try to reset PIN.

it shouldn't as long as you started with verizon. These are flex locked phone so they would lock to the first operator on boot. Do not use MVNO for first boot as that would likely leave your phone locked forever. Once it locks to verizon, then MVNo can be used. Visible refused to work but US mobile worked. So it may be MVNO's decision to allow it to work or not.

Great answer! But just to clarify, will the phone unlock automatically after 60 days, or is there something else we need to do? If it doesn't unlock after 60 days, who should we contactβ€”T-Mobile or Verizon? And what if T-Mobile refuses to unlock it in the future? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to understand the technical details. Thanks again for your thorough response; I really appreciate it!
