Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

Hello, any new Verizon customers there?Looks like there is no way to pay off the phone. Only the monthly charge + activation fee are shown up in the online account, no $299 device payment. Call the 1800 number in wiki and the bot always sent a link via text, which says the device is paid off. Anyone has a similar experience? Can we cancel the service without paying it off?Quote from CrimsonNose480 :From my very bad personal experience . I want you to all know that there's many misleading posts here.If you're a new Verizon customer. You won't be able to buy this phone off Before 30 days!Don't buy it if you're a new customer!Yet plenty of people have posted to this thread being new Verizon customers and been able to successfully pay this phone off within days of ordering/getting it.
I did pay off at the Verizon store,$299 cash.

Yes you open a ticket to have them update the purchase date so that it shows an active warranty

Thanks! Ok, got it. This is to ensure the device is covered by warranty.

First I get this,

Activate Your Device
We're unable to display coverage details because your device hasn't been registered. Please contact your Apple product retailer or your wireless carrier to register this device.

Then when I try to get support, I get this error:
"We are unable to complete your request at this time.
You've reached the code limit and we're unable to complete your request. Please try again later."

I agree .. there is a lot of misinformation on this thread. Verizon is tricksy. You have to persist.

Best way to payoff device is written on wiki. Please follow the steps.
Don't go to the store!! That is the worst advice.

In the wiki, it clearly says pay off using robo attendant. I agree. That is the best way.

Even after doing all this, there is no guarantee that you won't end up paying $60+ in service charge. Perhaps you can avoid it if you manage to activate, payoff, cancel service all within 3 days. In my case it took more 3 days. I notice .. a charge of $64. That too after arguing with a chat agent for immediate cancellation. They (some of them atleast) will say.. 1st month is mandatory. YMMV is reminder

Just a reminder that even if you do have to pay the activation fee and some portion of service .. $365 is still a solid deal for a new 256gb iPhone 14 that will be unlocked in 60 days.

That's normal if you haven't cancelled service yet. $75 for monthly service, $35 activation fee, $8 for first months device payment, + taxes.

Everything worked according to plan for me with this deal. I did try to get the phone unlocked sooner by Verizon, but the request was denied. 6 days down, 54 more to go until the phone is unlocked.

It works for Xfinity. I disconnected VZ line and remove the esim. Then, I converted my Xfinity physical sim to the esim on my current phone, then transferred the esim from my current to my new phone.
This is wrong information. Xfinity requires the phone to be unlocked before using it on their network even though its a MVNO. Verified with multiple Xfinity reps.

Is this deal in store dead or still possible to get?

Is there another deal like this on Black Friday?

Thanks!

I have two lines on Xfinity and I verified that both are working perfect on the new phone. I guess what reps say is not always true.
