All current Tracfone , Straight Talk, Total Wireless, Simple Mobile ONLY operates and activates on the Verizon Network exclusively. That's cause Verizon bought all of them. So any new phone will unlock in 60 days from ALL of them.

This has been your PSA.

$262 otd to California. After reading 25 pages, here's my summary:

1. Use PayPal to get 7.5% back by logging into your PayPal account and search for promos, select StraightTalk. Will take you directly to StraightTalk site. That's what i did.
2. Chase card has 15% promo but caps at $15 discount, based on other users. I do not have Chase.
3. Purchase iPhone 13 with Silver plan. Must be Silver or higher to get $200 phone discount.
4. Do not select autopay to see PayPal payment option.
5. You can ship to different address if you're gifting it. They just need to understand the terms if they plan to unlock and use elsewhere or just stay with StraightTalk.
6. New phone needs to be activated, through StaightTalk online, for 60-day unlock countdown to begin. Phone does not need to be opened/used.
7. After the 30 plan expires, do not purchase another plan. Use it on WiFi or not at all.
8. After 60 days, phone will automatically unlock for any carrier.
9. Text "UNLOCK" to 611611 to confirm/see countdown.
10. Hope all goes well for us all.

You don't need to do anything. It should get unlocked after 60 days. Some rare case it didn't get unlocked, go https://www.tfwunlockpolicy.com/wps/portal/ and give the imei (and the phone number you got) and it will let you "reprocess" the unlock request online, if you still can't get it unlocked, you just call the phone number on that web page and they will unlock it for you. With that said, most time it will get unlocked automatically and you don't need to do anything.

If you use the included sim, you can still get the att and T-Mobile sims by calling.
Care to explain on how and where to get a T-Mobile sim? Thanks!

I believe phone number lock is a security measure to protect you from SIM swap scam. There should be an option your account to unlock it if you locked it in the first place. Otherwise, customer service can help you.Phone number lock is not the same as phone network lock or SIM carrier lock.Straight Talk or TracFone refers to this as Line Lock.
Thank you for clarifying!

... I did order the iphone 13 today and I'm looking forward to it.I just checked a 2024 review of the pixel 6a on youtube and the reviewer had a weird title to the video and I thought this guy is going to trash the pixel 6a. But he didn't , he went on and on about how great the pixel 6a is, and it was google Marketing that made the mistake in how they advertised it. So it still holds up in 2024. I appreciate your comment and how you think the iphone 13 is far superior (it should work with my MAC MINI M4 to give cool intergration. ThanksPixel 6a in 2024: Google's biggest mistake!will not happen again!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E...iciousTech
Keep in mind, the iPhone 13 was a flagship device. The Google pixel 6A is a budget model. I strongly disagree with your statement that that any Pixel phone takes better pictures than an iPhone. There's no Pixel phone, or any Android phone, on planet Earth that uses higher quality chips than Apple does. Feel free to fact check that. Google is the largest search and advertising company in the world. When you use any Android device, you are willingly surrendering your personal information to Google. Personally, I would not use any Android device, even if it was given to me for free. We will just have to respectfully disagree on this matter.

You can buy a 2 sim BYOP simkit which has T-Mo & VZ sims for later use (once unlocked) but phone/plan needs to be activated with the included VZ sim to qualify for unlock. Some sim kits only have 1 VZ sim so you have to be careful when ordering.
All phones from ST/TW/TF will activate on VZ since they own the company.

Sorry if this is redundant. I did ask ST chat if after it is unlocked, I can use on any network (I have tmobile) and they said yes. Is that correct? Thanks!
Yes, the point of an unlocked phone is that you can connect to any carrier, without restrictions.

Maybe you should re-read my post again (read the whole post and not your edited version) , because you obviously didn't comprehend what I said. I said some stuff, I gave a LINK to youtube video, and I think you are confusing what I said and what the guy in the video said.

I mean nearly every carrier gives them away for free to new customers, why would you pay? This one is also locked. It's also depreciated by Apple, so no new AI features. There are too many good phones in 2024 to buy some old ass phone. I guess people aren't too tech savvy here. 🤷
Most young people don't want Andoid phones, no matter how fancy they are.

What I don't get is why Android folks always come into iphone posts and bitch - no one cares what Android fanboys think about these 'old ass' phones.

How long can I wait to activate this phone? My current service ends late March. Can I buy the phone now and activate the line in March?

Same exact deal without having to go to WM and find a phone rep to activate - or have issues with availability.

I have seen your posts the last couple years and I respect your opinion on smartphones. Is this a good deal for a iphone, I just got a Mac Mini M4 a few days ago, and was thinking of getting an apple smartphone to pair with it. I bought a ipad a few months ago, so I am dipping my feet into Apple Eco-system. Thanks

thanks for telling us about the difference between iphone 13 vs 14. With the walmart deal, is it NO contract? ... I wasn't sure. I understand the 8.99 dollar monthly fee for the phone cost , but the plan I wasn't sure about. Do you know? If both were straight talk , I would go for the iphone 14 for another 100 dollars. So, do you know what is up with all the extra conditions of the walmart plan?
The Walmart deal (I will presume you want to compare to the Verizon option because it has a very well delineated 60-day unlock policy) has no contract for the phone plan, but there is an agreement to pay the device on an installment plan. There is no penalty for paying off before 36 months (but it isn't instantaneous to be able to pay off, I think you have to wait a little while until it's in the system and your account reflects that you owe $299 total on the device, but you usually can get it paid off within the first three days).

This Straight Talk deal doesn't require a $35 activation fee. It also has a cheaper service plan overall, and taxes/fees on the plan itself are either included (I didn't look) for Straight Talk while it is NOT included for Verizon Postpaid, so that's another few dollars on top of the $75 plan and $35 activation fee (for customers who are new to Verizon).

If you want to cancel within the first three days of the Walmart iPhone 14 plan, you only get a few days' worth of service and then you have no service. For Straight Talk, you could use the phone the entire 30 days. You do have to pay the full plan for Straight Talk, so a full $45. There is no partial refund. If you cancel within the first three days of the Walmart deal, your total plan cost can be less than $45.

It is a hassle and takes time to pay off the device and cancel the plan, then wait a few days before you can pay off the prorated plan. If you miss the 3-day window for canceling the plan, or if the rep you get to cancel the plan tries to talk around what you are asking and sets up the plan to cancel at the end of the month, it might be the full >$100 total charge for plan/activation/taxes that you end up owing.

Read the stories on the SD thread for the Walmart deal, some people are running into issues.

If you really want an iPhone 14 for the features that the phone has that aren't on the 13, go for the Walmart deal. There are just more potential pitfalls in getting all the steps in the correct sequence, and there's some luck involved in the timing being correct, and you could end up paying a lot more for the plan than the $45 plan for Straight Talk for the iPhone 13. The postpaid deals are just more straightforward.

Probably, it all depends on your needs. I prefer android but if you need an iPhone it's a fair price. I recently got a like new ref iPhone 12 for cheap ($112) so not upgrading right now.
