All current Tracfone , Straight Talk, Total Wireless, Simple Mobile ONLY operates and activates on the Verizon Network exclusively. That's cause Verizon bought all of them. So any new phone will unlock in 60 days from ALL of them.

This has been your PSA.

$262 otd to California. After reading 25 pages, here's my summary:

1. Use PayPal to get 7.5% back by logging into your PayPal account and search for promos, select StraightTalk. Will take you directly to StraightTalk site. That's what i did.
2. Chase card has 15% promo but caps at $15 discount, based on other users. I do not have Chase.
3. Purchase iPhone 13 with Silver plan. Must be Silver or higher to get $200 phone discount.
4. Do not select autopay to see PayPal payment option.
5. You can ship to different address if you're gifting it. They just need to understand the terms if they plan to unlock and use elsewhere or just stay with StraightTalk.
6. New phone needs to be activated, through StaightTalk online, for 60-day unlock countdown to begin. Phone does not need to be opened/used.
7. After the 30 plan expires, do not purchase another plan. Use it on WiFi or not at all.
8. After 60 days, phone will automatically unlock for any carrier.
9. Text "UNLOCK" to 611611 to confirm/see countdown.
10. Hope all goes well for us all.

You don't need to do anything. It should get unlocked after 60 days. Some rare case it didn't get unlocked, go https://www.tfwunlockpolicy.com/wps/portal/ and give the imei (and the phone number you got) and it will let you "reprocess" the unlock request online, if you still can't get it unlocked, you just call the phone number on that web page and they will unlock it for you. With that said, most time it will get unlocked automatically and you don't need to do anything.

I picked up a couple of the ST SE 3 during that same deal last year, except I got them online from ST rather than at a Walmart store (the Walmart near me didn't have any). The intent was to use the two SE as hotspot providers when traveling overseas and have our "main" phones tethered to them. We used them over the summer like this and they worked surprisingly well. I originally had concerns about the smaller battery in the SE but it turns out that battery life wasn't an issue when they were used purely as hotspot providers. And when we did need to charge them using a battery pack, it didn't take long to charge them up to a decent level. However, the lack of MagSafe on the SE was inconvenient as we had gotten used to using wireless portable batteries with our main phones, though now that I think about it we could have gotten around the lack of MagSafe by using cases with MagSafe rings.Despite our success in using our SE as hotspots, carrying two phones in my pants pocket got a bit annoying and there were times when I wanted to use the SE as my main device so I wouldn't have to carry 2 phones. When using the SE 3 as my main phone, I had a hard time getting used to the smaller screen. In addition, the reduced battery life from having a smaller battery was readily apparent. Finally, the small storage space of 64GB started to become an issue - I had to be selective about which apps I installed. This is why we were looking at "upgrading" to the iPhone 13 for our travel phones.I've actually just recently purchased two iPhone 13 from the latest Metro deal, but those have a 365 day unlock. And while the total cost of this ST 13 deal is a bit higher, when the 10 month shorter unlock period is factored in it's a no-brainer for us - not only are we getting phones that will unlock 10 months sooner (and hence be able to use on international trips early next year and next summer), there's also less depreciation from our SE 3 which we can sell now vs. a year from now. The resale value of the SE 3 isn't that great to begin with, but once the SE 4 goes on sale I'm sure the value of the SE 3 is going to tank.So anyways, this is what one gains going from the SE 3 to 13:-larger screen-larger battery-64GB vs 128GB (comparing base to base)-better cameras (front as well as rear, also 2 cameras in the rear vs 1)-MagSafe-better resale value (especially after the SE 4 is released)Now I just need to figure out what to do with my two Metro 13. They've been opened and activated but I didn't remove the factory screen protector. I may just hang onto them for a year and then sell them as "used, unlocked, like new".
It's helpful to read use case stories!

Yes it's the best deal so far for BF season ( 128gb of storage vs 64gb on others and a physical sim slot) it would be great if it was $100 but with the iphone 12 still being heavily pushed it is what it is lol. At best maybe $150 on BF ( I doubt it ) . Saying this from last year's epic $50 ip se3 straight talk deal. This is this year's for those of us needing 128gb storage . Basically iphone 12 64gb for $100 or iphone 13 128gb for $200 is the deals around
did iphone 12 for $100 happen already? not counting metro/boost etc that unlock after 1yr.

If it won't activate on Total just contact support and ask to remove from ST acct/rebrand phone to Total. My ST unlocked phone wouldn't activate as a BYOP on Tracfone until it had been automatically removed from account - took at least 10 weeks from activation.
It can be done.
OK but how can I ask support to remove IMEI from my ST account if I only have ST for 1 month, and my account is no longer active?

Just call or contact support online, shouldn't be a problem - doesn't matter if phone is currently inactive.

Does that mean no need to call ST, just wait 10 weeks, the IMEI of the phone automatically removed from your account?

Hopefully, but no guarantees. ST did remove one line but another expired unlocked one is still showing. Quickest way is to contact support online using chat.

Cheapest ST one was the refurbished 12 from 2 months ago at $119 (was actually less due to cb) plus $35 plan.

Yeah, undergoing maintenance. Just as I had finished my other tasks tonight and was ready to get those phones ordered. Sigh

I have an iPhone SE2 using eSIM from USMobile. After I receive this new iPhone 13, I am going to use a feature(called Quick Start?) to transfer all the apps and data from SE2 to 13, without iCloud(I don't have big storage on iCloud), basically I put two phones next to each other, then the transfer can be initiated through WIFI, 15-20 minutes after the transfer, I expect a cloned phone and I no longer need to re-install 50+ apps and set them up. My question is: will such transfer also move the eSIM from SE2 to iPhone 13? I worry about if the cell service(in this case, USMobile) accidentally move to the new phone, then it will be activated with USMobile instead of Straighttalk. I believe eventually I should be able to fix it(activate Straighttalk and remove USMobile), but could it risk the ability to unlock in 60 days?
Please advise. Thanks!

Transferring the number / service to the new phone is a separate part of the transfer process … you can either proceed with that as an option or simply clone all the data and apps without touching the service. The vid below shows how it works (see approximately 1:45 where that option comes up)…

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDfA7VHa4NQ

Note that you can also clone the phone data by using iTunes on a computer to do a backup and then restore on the new phone. They don't need to be the same model for that … I've been cloning my phone that way with every upgrade since the iPhone 4 or so. The only caveat is that the new phone must have the same version of iOS or newer than the backed-up phone before doing the restore to it.

Currently have a IPhone XR. Is this worth the upgrade?
