All current Tracfone , Straight Talk, Total Wireless, Simple Mobile ONLY operates and activates on the Verizon Network exclusively. That's cause Verizon bought all of them. So any new phone will unlock in 60 days from ALL of them.

$262 otd to California. After reading 25 pages, here's my summary:

1. Use PayPal to get 7.5% back by logging into your PayPal account and search for promos, select StraightTalk. Will take you directly to StraightTalk site. That's what i did.
2. Chase card has 15% promo but caps at $15 discount, based on other users. I do not have Chase.
3. Purchase iPhone 13 with Silver plan. Must be Silver or higher to get $200 phone discount.
4. Do not select autopay to see PayPal payment option.
5. You can ship to different address if you're gifting it. They just need to understand the terms if they plan to unlock and use elsewhere or just stay with StraightTalk.
6. New phone needs to be activated, through StaightTalk online, for 60-day unlock countdown to begin. Phone does not need to be opened/used.
7. After the 30 plan expires, do not purchase another plan. Use it on WiFi or not at all.
8. After 60 days, phone will automatically unlock for any carrier.
9. Text "UNLOCK" to 611611 to confirm/see countdown.
10. Hope all goes well for us all.

You don't need to do anything. It should get unlocked after 60 days. Some rare case it didn't get unlocked, go https://www.tfwunlockpolicy.com/wps/portal/ and give the imei (and the phone number you got) and it will let you "reprocess" the unlock request online, if you still can't get it unlocked, you just call the phone number on that web page and they will unlock it for you. With that said, most time it will get unlocked automatically and you don't need to do anything.

What's the cheapest way to keep the phone number? They assigned a random number, but I like it, and want to keep it. Would it be possible to just port out without affecting the unlock thing?

Yes you can port out after activating without it affecting the unlock. You can port to NumberBarn ($2/month).

Yeah, it used to be 1 year of active service, but it was a condition of the merger when Verizon acquired ST that new devices go under the Verizon unlock policy (i.e., auto unlock 60-days after activation).

I placed my order on ST.com on Wednesday evening and the phone arrived this morning. I haven't opened the phone, yet, but the activation packet is co-branded Total by Verizon and StraightTalk. I am following instructions on the activation packet, the activation process indicates, "It looks like the IMEI you entered belongs to another brand. Please try again with a different IMEI number." Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I'm in the queue for online customer service.

EDIT: Online customer service was able to activate the phone, once I opened it and inserted the SIM. It took about half an hour from the time I opened the chat til I got it up and running.

You activated with Straight Talk which starts their timer to update the Apple database for unlock. Your iPhone will show as not activated, and this is according to Apple itself which is true since it's never been powered on or connected to their activation servers. The phone will be unlocked after the ST 60 days has passed.

I had same issues and customer service was able to activate using strait talk order number. Just keep saying "talk to an agent" until connected to human.

Once I activate the imei online. Can i take the sim card and put it into another phone that I have unlocked to take advantage of the new/line service for the month itll be active? will that interfere with the unlock process you think?
