FYI - for those trying to activate multiple phones with the existing line to avoid paying $45 each time:

https://support.straighttalk.com/...ne-or-sim/

"I received a new phone or SIM due to network changes. How can I transfer my phone number and benefits to the new phone or SIM?

Text ONESTEP to 611611 6 1 1 6 1 1on your old device.

You'll get a reply asking for the last four digits of your new serial number or new SIM card number.

After you text the number, you will receive a confirmation with instructions to complete the activation of your new device or SIM."

How to request for a T-Mobile sim card? i just placed and order and have another T-Mobile number in case i want to start using that number immediately without waiting for the phone to be unlocked since it would already be on Tmobile network.
You can't.

I'd be cautious here:
TracFone will remotely unlock the phone when it becomes eligible for unlocking, provided it meets the following conditions:

The cellphone was activated with TracFone service by purchasing and redeeming an airtime plan on that specific phone ("Activation")

Note that you might have a bit of a fight about returning the plan, especially if they activated it already in-store, as they do at many Walmarts.
If that's the case they better give me the month of service since I haven't even opened the phone/activated the line yet

Yeah, the WM deal can be a bit confusing … when they do it there, the reps are supposed to go into the WARP system and activate the ST line/number before you even leave the store. Many do it that way, but some don't. When they do it like that, the line is up and activated and the plan period is already ticking down from 29 days, even if you never opened the phone (at least that's the way it often worked last year with the SE3, which also required in-store activation).

If you got it through a WARP rep, it's tied to the phone, you won't be able to use it.

Has there been reported issues recently? I remember I did that last year without any problems. I saw that unlock FAQ was updated in July 2024.

I don't know if he did because I don't have a phone number for it. He said when I log in it will walk me thru setting up the phone number.

He gave me a paper that said if I'm a new customer I would need my email address and the pin (on the paper) to access my account.

I was trying to activate the phone and without thinking went to totalbyverizon.com and activated it there. does it make a difference when it comes to having the device become unlocked after 60 days?
Also, did I just lose my $45 month of straight talk service to activate this?
This documentation is very confusing if you're not familiar with straight talk or total wireless.

User Crazy8 bought a [hone from TF, activated with an active sim, they wouldn't unlock it because of the change in terms. You're right, many of us activated multiples before, I think that's why the change. Admittedly it is my only data point aside from comments on Howard forums.

Yes, there was someone on Howard Forums who activated a phone with a transfer in June, prior to the new policy actually taking effect. Then in August, when he hit the 60 days, the phone did not unlock and the unlocking department refused to help pointing to the fact that he had not purchased airtime to activate.

Won't make a difference if it activated, did it, has a number? If not, trouble.

in the activation process it is asking to 'pay by credit card/paypal' or 'redeem pin'. I thought i paid $45 for a month's service?

Ya, you did-for Straighttalk, not total.
Been done by others, go to the search this thread near the top right and search for total, some got it fixed, not easy.
