high latency here,
if you're setting up a gaming pc research how much CL (latency) matters for fps
I recommend finding a deal on 6000 cl30 ram on ebay (this is an easy affordable sweetspot for amd gaming)
and check if the ram is better tuned for AMD or intel (EXPO for AMD)
The issue with this ram isn't the latency, it's that the CL30 chips are Hynix, while these are Samsung made. Samsung makes OK DDR5 ram (they had the best DDR4) but Hynix are incredible for DDR5.
These Samsung based sticks have compatibility issues that the Hynix based RAM don't have.

It's a no brainer in my opinion.
If you're gonna spend close to 2000 or whatever you're doing building a PC, spending $15.00 more for these kinds of gains potentially, is fantastic!
The one time I searched eBay I saw a pair for 80, right now there's bunch on eBay and Amazon for a 90

it's always a great feeling knowing you got the best ram in your system, especially if you're going X 3D, drop the extra couple bucks

The performance difference is not worth the price difference IMO.

yeah, and the Hynix (CL30) can also be tightened to CL28 @ 6200
though you can find a lot of scenarios where the the cl 36 to cl30 is significant, it's a great one stop for most people

How do I find out who makes the chips in this similar kit? F5-6000J3040G32GX2-FX5

Does latency even matter any more? I mean, more than 2% on some specific memory benchmark? Would anyone even notice in real life / gaming? I'm thinking maybe not?

Teamgroup has Hynix chips CL 30 and right now not on sale for 89 bucks. I can see that memory hitting the same price around BF. But yeah for 32gb DDR5 6000 this is surely not a bad price even if its CL 36.

This is the question. Noticable difference?

Everything i've looked at cas latency matters way less with DDR5 unless you are absolutely running the highest end components. Maybe 5 frames max loss

You aren't going to be bargain shopping if you are doing that anyway. Edit: AMD and Intel builds seem to respond differently to the speed Vs. the latency.

Thr issue here is definitely the latency.

You want 2 things if you're going amd.
A ram divisible by 2000mhz (the speed of infinity fabric) and the nanosecond latency using this formula. "CL" times 2000 divided by "ram speed". Cl30 times 2000 divided by 6000mhz is 10nanoseconds.

That's the sweet spot for price performance. 8000mhz is ok.but 6400mhz means you have to decouple the ram from the cpu causing latency on a different end of the loop.

And ocing the fabric only goes up to about 6200mhz ram before it becomes unstable when keeping it coupled for ram and cpu.

You can buy cl28 6000mhz but it costs up to 50% more. And you can only get it in 32gb (2x 16gb sticks) soon they will have it at 48gb (2x 24gb) probably another month right before xmas.

I highly suggest getting cl30 6000mhz as this is the the most optimal in 9 out of 10 games with the 10% being very specific to games.

op should add that this is AMD Expo ram. no changes needed to make this work on amd.

that makes a lot of sense! so if you already owned a different latency how much difference are we talking? I got a combo at microcenter and the ram was free, it was the same model, g skill flare 6000 but cl36
