This was $499 last week at newegg though... Why is the price $100 more now if these are supposed to be "deals" this week lol

I caught the same thing. I'm not saying this isn't a deal because I think it's pretty good at $600, but it was $500 on Newegg just a few days ago as you point out.

I was considering a 42" OLED but I use my computer a lot for work in Excel and I don't want to baby sit it, so this is perfect. Plus, I think 38" is probably better for most of us who work at a desk.

Dang man, I'm jealous. My eyes can't handle that. You sit 30-36" from a 48" screen?

Probably to avoid "burn ins" with OLED panels. So working on Excel and having spreadsheets open all day may not be a good idea to avoid image retention.

Yes, OLED can be prone to burn-in if you have static images on your monitor/tv. It's gottne better, but people still hide their taskbar and desktop icons for this reason. I just don't have to work about that on a $800-1000 monitor.

This being IPS, the contrast and black levels aren't nearly as good, but burn-in is really not likely. I'm really just after a 38" inch monitor with 120+hz for gaming and work.
