I got it because the 60hz 42"monitor I had for work ( 4 1080p apps in a workflow is great ) was just a bit too large. This 38" size is perfect size. Small enough for the desktop while still running apps at 100% scaling.
The picture is very bright (600 nits) and crisp as this is an RGB monitor while all the 42" 4k monitors are BGR and require cleartype to get the fonts looking decent.
Playing games at 144hz on displayport in the evenings is great as well. (Only 120 hz on HDMI).
The downsides to this monitor is that it's only 8-bit, so you sometimes run into dithering.
The speakers are also crap. Very low volume and muddy.
The monitor has been discontinued. I hope they make more models of this size in the future when I need a new one.

With an Nvidia 3070, and using HDMI, the Nvidia Control Panel will not only let me set 10 bpp, but 12 bpp as well. But I can only set Full output dynamic range using RGB. If I try to go with YCbCr444, it wants to drop to limited. As everyone says, though, the panel really is 8+FRC.
HDR is achievable on this, at least recognizable by Windows and I see the intensity (brightness, not sure about gamut) ramp up for supported games and YouTube videos when using Chrome. I should say "HDR" due to the fact it's not rated HDR10, but rather the oddball Vesa HDR600.
BUT - the high refresh rate is nice. It will report at 144, though my card really can't do that AND 2160p together well.
The size is really the exact point I wanted. I was running two 32" panels, one landscape, one portrait. The PG38UQ fits perfectly as a replacement for my landscape monitor, and the text is nice and readable.
I REALLY would like to get another as a back up, but with the fact that the warrantee clock would start ticking on it as well, I don't want to shoot the budget on it.
