You don't have to switch names anymore.
1. Sign out of Xfinity account before searching.
2. When you enter the address, select you are moving here as a new customer.
3. Once you select the plan, it will give an option to create a new account or login. Login with your existing id.
4. It will create a new account and close the old account on your existing login.
5. You will be charged prorated amount on old account and new account starts right away.
6. Your internet will be on for a while but one day it will stop working.
7. If you owned the modem then you can restart the modem and go through activation process on new login and move old modem over. Else use new rental modem for activation.
8. If you have you mobile lines then you can call them to move the lines to new account.

My wife and I have switched accounts for many years every time a deal expires. I started going in store because you get the equipment right away. You will have to constantly replace modems every time you switch but it saves hundreds.

Keep in mind they will charge you after you hit 1.2TB of bandwidth (in either direction). And higher speeds make that happen more easily. I prefer a lower/cheaper tier of service so that helps reduce the potential of runaway bandwidth use.

I pay 2x this to my local utility for 60mbps down and zero mobile phone lines.

But I don't have to deal with Comcast, so I'm still winning.

after 1.2 TB, do you still get internet but just at a lower rate, or do they cut it off, or do they charge you extra?
They charge you extra. $50 once you go over, I think its either every 250gb or 1tb. I forget which.

after 1.2TB blocks of 50 GB will automatically be added to your account for an additional fee of $10 each plus tax. Charges will not exceed $100 each month, no matter how much data you use.

so $135 dollars if heavy user and you don't pay for xFi complete unlimited rental just another scam from this company 10GB of data cost them less than 1cent in 2024. Northeast states have no datacaps with xfinity still while rest of country is being charged.

Just get the the Prepaid 100Mbps $30 or 200Mbps for $45 it includes free gateway and unlimited data no contract after 12 months the price is still same.

Be aware, they charge rental fees for their router, or you have to spend money on your own. And after 12 months, price hikes are possible.

Unlike the good Verizon Fios offers with 5 year price protection, one year is squat IMO.

No caps in the Northeast.... thank you FIOS (even though it's not actually available in my area, it is nearby). Competition is a good thing.

How fast is it to, say, cut off my dad's full price Xfinity service and restore service on my mom's name as a new customer? Same physical address, same physical cable, modem etc.

I opened an Ally account separately to let them draw from that.

My info might be a bit outdated it's been a few years since I had to deal with that, but they were charging overages. It like somewhere around 10$ per 100 gigs or something like that. that was also just pre-covid so it's probably adjusted/changed since.
