You don't have to switch names anymore.
1. Sign out of Xfinity account before searching.
2. When you enter the address, select you are moving here as a new customer.
3. Once you select the plan, it will give an option to create a new account or login. Login with your existing id.
4. It will create a new account and close the old account on your existing login.
5. You will be charged prorated amount on old account and new account starts right away.
6. Your internet will be on for a while but one day it will stop working.
7. If you owned the modem then you can restart the modem and go through activation process on new login and move old modem over. Else use new rental modem for activation.
8. If you have you mobile lines then you can call them to move the lines to new account.

My wife and I have switched accounts for many years every time a deal expires. I started going in store because you get the equipment right away. You will have to constantly replace modems every time you switch but it saves hundreds.

why dont use your own modem? i always call when changing accounts and they are able to switch the modem to new account easily.

For Xfinity internet ordered online, professional installation is the only option and it costs $50 but if you call in, the agent can allow self installation at no cost.

FYI, I have my own modem and was able to get this deal successfully. Had similar issue first time, got the same error message and no other confirmations. Retried it and it worked successfully the second time, think issue was first time it didn't ask for CC details to be entered. Not sure if it was due to me not making some selections or some technical error. It needs ACH for internet payment (for $10 discount) and CC for mobile payments. You might want to retry today as is last date of offer.

Also, as others mentioned earlier ..they charge $25 one time for mobile line activation. And possibly have to pay taxes for mobile every month based on projected billing shown. Discounts applied are $10 for ACH payment + paperless bill enrollment and $40 for mobile monthly charges based on promotion.

i currently have a internet service with xfinity but the price going up next month as i complete 1 yr. is there a way to get this new offer ? can i cancel my current account and ask them to open a new account and give me the offer ?

If I have never had Xfinity and only had att how do I do self install? Don't they have to do wiring for the first time?

Yes, follow the steps listed in earlier posts. You don't need to cancel, follow steps to enroll in this offer and existing account will get cancelled. I did the same.

Possibly yes. If you never had Xfinity, suppose they will need to do the wiring the first time. There is check on address to find if self-install is an option. Also, if you have difficulty while self-install..possibly app will give an option to schedule technician. It could be for free..at least was for me a year ago but could have changed now.

Verbiage in Xfinity mail recd…so there will be cost if self install doesn't work. I understand that my order includes Self-Installation. I agree that if I am unable to complete my installation and an Xfinity technician visit is required, there will be a one-time Professional Installation fee of $100.

Though I thought this worked, it actually did not end up working. Though the order went through online, it did not ultimately work. It automatically closed the old order, and started a new one. Also got equipment sent to me. However could not activate the equipment. Something in their systems flagged the fact that there were two accounts at the same address with the same last name. Went through a whole loop of talking to folks, their security department etc. They all don't have any idea what they are doing or understand what is going on. Ultimately both accounts got cancelled. So YMMV on this. It is much cleaner/safer to switch to someone else if you have another person living with you.

I have talked to many reps over the months for various things and deals and stuff but no one flagged any concerns. They have even offered to transfer the mobile lines from one account to the other.
