I realize this isn't a DIY forum but maybe someone can help. I want to retrim my basement for sure, and probably the whole house. From researching it sounds like I need a table saw. Would this one be a good choice? Thanks so much and sorry for clogging up the comment section!

Nice. At $249 for the free tool deal, the battery price is pretty average. The battery new, from good sellers on ebay goes for ~$125+ so this is a great deal, especially because this new saw really thrives on the high powered batteries.

For long really straight cuts you want a table saw or track saw... if you're just cutting trim then a circular saw will be fine.

For trim work, you'll want to get a miter saw (something that looks like this: https://slickdeals.net/f/17867295-18v-roybi-one-7-1-4-compound-miter-saw-w-4-0ah-battery-charger-p553kn-149-free-shipping)

A table saw is something different, where the saw is stationary and you move the wood through the saw. The only time you'd need a table saw for trim work is if you are trying to make the trim pieces narrower, or are milling your own bevels into the trim.

If you are getting premade trim and need to cut them to the right lengths with the correct angles, you'll want a miter saw. The capabilities of the miter saw you'll need will depend on how many complicated cuts you have to make (like compound miter cuts where you have both a bevel and a miter angle).

If you want to do trim (baseboard, door trim, crown molding) what you need is a good mitre saw. This is not it.

As everyone above said, retrim one room? This might do. Will take a little longer but doable, especially if you set up a jig. Re-trim an entire house? Invest in a compound, bevel (dual bevel best) miter saw. Sliding vs non-sliding depending on blade size and size of trim, and future projects.

Thanks again everyone for the advice! I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this sliding compound miter saw from another current deal. My future basement without the extremely sloppy MDF baseboards and door trim thank you all as well. Hopefully I can do this.
