Yes and no. I have the new Samsung AIO version of this LG. If you do smaller more frequent loads, it's neglible. If you do larger loads, yes it takes longer. For me at least, the longer times is offset by other factors:

1) I often don't get a chance to move cloths right after the cycle is done
2) If I completely forgot to move it, I had the stinky cloths issue where I had to rewash it and hope most of the smell disappears
3) I now run large load of clothes at night and wake up to fresh dry clothes

Strong word of advice check if your state currently has a rebate on these (my state is supposed to do so but hasn't yet started it) https://www.energy.gov/save/home-upgrades

Also make sure you religiously clean the various filters on this as there have been reports of All in One units having issues due to lint/etc clogging things (downside of being an early adopter, you're the beta tester of designs)

People hate on these because they're different and they're not for everyone but I've owned this LG for nearly a year.

Plan on ~monthly maintenance: clean refill soap dispensers; wipe with damp cloth or rinse lint vent, door seal, and heat pump radiator fins (carefully, I use a toothbrush); clean out the washer filter, run a tub clean cycle.

Dry garments made mostly with synthetics separate from natural fiber for more even & accurate drying. Some dampness feeling at the end of drying can be shaken off (closed air drying system).

Mostly automated washing & drying, more free space without a separate dryer, my electric bill is noticeably less, and now using the dryer doesn't involve pushing conditioned air out of the home.

This type of machine is the future but remember, if 1 thing breaks, you don't have a washer or dryer. Let them perfect it before diving in head first.
So if your dedicated washing machine breaks today, you are going to do what exactly? Wash your clothes by hand in the sink so you can continue to use the working dryer?

There may be reasons to wait, but this ain't one.

I have experience with the LG Ventless Washtower w/ Heat Pump. Basically the same thing, but not AIO and runs a 240v. I can tell you, my experience is the exact same with everyone who has the AIO, and dry cycle still only uses 600w/h to 1 kw/h. Confirming it is not better at drying, so not sure why they made it require a 240v outlet. Sometimes, I even regret not going with the AIO and choosing the separate washer and dryer tower instead for the convenience.

And to everyone who trashes on these ventless ones either have something wrong with their machine or don't understand that the "damp" feeling when done drying only feels damp because it's basically still humid inside the drum because there's no vent. Take out the clothes and give it 1 good shake or let it sit outside for a second and it feels bone dry. Very strange, but I can confidently say that I will only be using ventless washer/dryers in the future now.
It comes in a 240v option so that you can use it as a drop in replacement for an electric dryer

A dumb question, may be:
With a gas provision to the laundry, can we still choose to use this electric version?

Bypassing the gas lines.. I mean.
This is going to be at a rented place.

If the washer breaks, you hand wash and dry in the dryer. If the dryer breaks, you machine wash and hang dry. It's not that difficult to understand.
And, so the option of hand washing and hang drying while the machine is repaired is not an option for you. Having to do one of those, OK with you? But having to do both for a short period of time is so out of the realm of possibility or feasibility, that we shouldn't buy this AOI unit.

Anyone have any insight on LG vs Samsung for these AIO heat pump units?

So these come with a 120v socket... would a 240v socket give more power and thus better drying capabilities?
No, because this uses a size-limited heat pump rather than resistive heating.

If you've got an outlet nearby I don't see why it wouldn't work. Just don't connect the gas line.

I have the Samsung version and it's been working great for me. Can't really say how it compares against the lg though. Basically out of the big 3 i was just waiting for one of them to go on a nice sale and Samsung had one first. I'm sure all 3 are relatively the same.

LG and Samsung are made in Korea. Samsung has had good reviews, but selling appliances in the past, I felt like they were paid reviews, because I know so many people that have had issues with them. My ex's family had 3 of their appliances go out within 3 years. If you want them all to match handles, that can really be a problem. I didn't sell much Samsung. I'm not saying anything else is perfect, but I'm staying away. I also sold my brother a set of Samsung on clearance for cheap and the washer was repaired by him like 4 times before he sold it. Some due to misdiagnosing computer issues, but he spent more than just a replacement, plus his time. That was one of the exploding ones. They said he'd have to ship his washer to a repair center or pay someone else to do the repairs or something along those lines. Very inconvenient. Many companies won't even work on Samsung. In fact, just get the extended warranty. Hopefully they'll replace the unit, but hopefully it matches if your old one is discontinued.

I am reading comments on these AOI machines, I have the GE Profile Combo, i actually have 2 of them. They were a total game changer. Less power draw. No need to clean vents. Can run smaller loads and just set it and forget it. Got the 2nd one as we got a bigger family was the best decision ever.

Edit!!! I thought this was the Samsung Bespoke. If you're thinking about getting an All in One, most of these thoughts are still relevant.

I have ADHD so I was prone to leaving laundry and forgetting about it. This negates that and makes it entirely worth it.
Bonuses for me:
  • Costco price: I got the Samsung at this price last time. Sooo worth it.
  • I was running and old whirlpool set that I kept tearing down and repairing for $40 here, $60 there. They were never leveled right because the previous owner let some things rust somehow and those were toast. They were much louder than this unit.
  • No gas line to run. I wanted to move my laundry across my basement and this was a fantastic solution. No vent, no gas, etc
  • No vent means to fear of fires.
Tips: I keep an old vacuum next to it and clean the lint trap with that. I also have a Winix air filter in the room because emptying the lint trap gets lint EVERYWHERE. Using these two really prevents that.

Cons:
  • If you get behind on laundry, it can take a while to complete loads. Most loads for me are 2.5-3hrs, with steam whites cycle being 6hrs.
