Turn on your inactive Sirius or XM radio between 11/21 and 12/2 and it may receive free service through 12/2.

Some radios are not capable of receiving the free service so YMMV.

Thanks.
I need these free times, to remind myself that the same 200 songs played once a day with the fidelity of a potato isn't for me.

Many people travel by car over Thanksgiving and many will go outside of their local radio reception area. It's free, I'm sure many will enjoy it. Some people may be former subscribers and already own a radio they can just turn on, but if not check your local thrift store. I see them all the time for $5 or below. I picked one up at a yard sale complete with antenna and 12 volt power plug for just $1. Well worth it to not have to roam the FM band relentlessly as you drive to find a station you like and avoid commercials. But, you are correct some radios don't have the best audio quality especially if you have a separate unit that only has a builtin FM transmitter instead of a wired output you can plug right into your car's AUX input or your home amplifier. Yes, there is a lot of repetition on the music stations but they have sports and talk stations too.

So how do we see which radios ARE capable of receiving the free service? I would hate to go out and buy 3 old radios in a row trying to try this out, only to find that all 3 in a row weren't compatible. Hopefully there is a list of compatible radios?

Then you're not listening to the right stations. The live music stations that play whole concerts (GD, Phish, DMB, PJ) don't do that level of repeating. And the news ones (for whatever news one like - sports, business, politics, etc.) don't repeat at all. But, yeah, we're all like you.

Just about all models are capable of receiving the free trial. I have only seen one not work so far out of over a dozen that friends have tried. The one that didn't work was one of the really old large models, the kind that are like an inch thick and maybe 4" high and 4" wide.

I'm with you.

With so much music, news and information whether through Apple Carplay, Amazon, Spotify or over the air, I find little value in satellite radio. Plus, if they weren't such greedy pricks making you jump through hoops to cancel or get a better deal, I may have reconsidered renewing.

That said, I'll tune in to 70's on 7 tomorrow on my cross state trip.

My Dad always said..."For free, take"

I'm with both of you. In addition to the greedy aspect, I'm not willing to pay for a service that cuts out at every nearby overpass. The sound quality may be decent, even good, but when there's sudden silence when I'm singing along in my car, it's jarring. Really kills the vibe.
