Minisforum via Amazon [amazon.com] has updated stock and sale price for the Minisforum BD-790i SE MoDT Mini-ITX Barebones Motherboard w/ Ryzen 9 7940HX Processor for $359.99.

While this price ($360) is not an all-time-low price, but matches recent lows from Amazon for this deal. Shipping is free.

Technical Specs:
  • Mini-ITX Form Factor (170x170x1.6mm)
  • AMD Ryzen 9 7940HX, 16 Cores/32 Threads Processor
  • AMD Radeon 610M Integrated Graphics
  • Not included: RAM, SSD
  • 2x DDR5 SODIMM memory slots (Dual Channel support, up to 5200 MT/s, and up to 64GB or 96GB*)
  • 2x M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 4.0x4 SSD Slots
  • 1x M.2 2230 Key E Slot for NIC
  • 1x PCIe 5.0 X16 Slot for GPU (with Metal Fasteners)
  • Ports:
    • 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (Alt DisplayPort 1.4)
    • 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A
    • 2x USB 2.0 Type-A
    • 1x HDMI 2.0
    • 1x DisplayPort 1.4
    • 1x RJ-45 2.5G Ethernet
    • 1x Line Out
  • FAN/Audio/USB Headers:
    • 1x 4-pin CPU Fan header
    • 2x 4-pin System Fan header
    • 1x 4-pin SSD Fan header
    • 1x Front Panel Audio Header
    • 1x System Panel Headers
    • 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Header

Passmark benchmark scores [cpubenchmark.net] for this CPU are absolutely incredible, slotting it directly between a 7900X and 7950X desktop CPU, all while maintaining a much lower TDP. It's also my understanding that the PCI-e 5.0 x16 slot on this board support x8/x8 and x4/x4/x4/x4 bifurcation, so I will be installing a 4x NVMe card and adding some extra M2 slots and SATA slots that way to run mine as a NAS/VM host.

Previous deal ($330) was direct from Minisforum and is NOT in stock now. Extra price from Amazon is worth the hassle if you have any issues with returns and such. There's also a combo deal [https] with this board pre-installed in a case with a PSU from Amazon as well for $569.90 - $114 = $455.90

This is just a board with an intergrated CPU and heatsink. You need to supply your own RAM+SSD(s)+Fan+Case+PSU/etc. If you aren't comfortable with that, check the second related link for the 790S7 deal where you just need to add drives/RAM/OS.

This takes a standard ATX PSU, you need to size your power supply based on your video card if you're doing a discrete GPU as opposed to the onboard 610M chipset. Otherwise any PSU over 400W or so with the proper ATX connectors should be fine.

Missed last time deal on their official website. In for one now with 5% off prime card. Return until Jan 31. Planning to use it for ESXI host. Already bought the PCIEX8/2x M2 riser to pair with 25G NIC and extra SATA/NVMe drives.

anyone put one of these MoDT in an ITX case like a Revolt 3? Would it get too hot with just passive cooling and a discrete GPU, or would you still need case fans?

I skipped the deal on the official site for a reason... and my Amazon purchase justified it. The first one I got was defective. My second (replacement one) appears to be fine. Kinda frustrating. I'm curious though, what exact items did you buy there? I haven't looked at any 10GbE+ options for this yet.

I bought the BD790I SE and a PCIEX16 split/expansion card spliting the 16x to 1 x 8x slot and 2 extra Nvme slots like following. I also printed a workbench style case to pair with it.
