The benefit of a Thermopen (it's actually a thermocouple, not a thermometer) that reads this fast is that you can slowly push it through meat and get the coolest temp, not just the average temp. I have owned one for 6 or 7 years and there is a significant difference between this and a regular thermometer. It's also fast enough that you can check a bunch of small things, like wings, and get an accurate reading on all of them.

I stopped buying products from them. Support wasn't helpful and warranty was awful. My MK4 isn't accurate, even sent in pictures, and all they would say was it was calibrated before it was sent out.

My Smoke, one port doesn't work and I only used it 4-5 times.

Their stuff I hyped up, but doesn't work any better than other products I tried. They are actually less reliable.

I would avoid ChefsTemp too.

Surprisingly enough, I have had excellent results with Inkbird. Picked up one of their products here on a deal, and it's been rock solid. Same with the ThermoPro Lightning. Works as good and better than my thermoworks MK4.

Good deal. In for one. Yellow is available as well. ThermoWorks is more expensive, but I've found that their thermometers are consistently more accurate than other models I've tried on Amazon.

In for 2 for gifts, great price. The link went to an upgrade deal. Got a blue and green for the posted price of $68.67 I love mine, it's noticeably better than most thermometers I've used in terms of build quality and features. It came with a certificate of accuracy.

In what way was your MK4 not accurate?

I have used several Thermopen thermometers and always had a great experience. I left one Thermapen too close to my propane grill one time and the housing melted and warped (still worked though). My Thermapen was really old, but their Support offered me either a repair, or a discount on a new one. I chose to upgrade to a new one, and have been using it for the last four years. I'm happy with the thermometer and with their support. Just don't leave it sitting on the lid of your BBQ.

I have a Thermapen One that I use almost every time I cook. When my friends ask how a dish turned out so good, I tell them the secret is getting the temp just right. Steak, Chicken, Salmon, Turkey, Pumpkin pie, Cheesecake, Creme Brulee, I use it on most things I make. I think the Thermapen is the most important kitchen tool I have. I highly recommend it to anyone.

Ice bath and boiling water test. Tested others, not thermoworks, and they showed the correct number. The MK4 was off by 3-4 degrees.

Reached out to the company and was told they are sent calibrated. That I am doing something wrong. Sent them pictures and they still said it's fine, that I am testing it wrong and that they know it's right. It was a joke.

For my smoke….they did not offer to replace or offer a discount on a new one. The MK4, nothing on that either as they said it should be fine.

Had a few other products, and about 6 probes for the smoke but they didn't care.

The best product I got from them that never had issues was the Thermapen Mk4 Silicone Boot, Magnetic Glow-in-the-Dark. That I liked. Would let me store the MK4 on the fridge or anywhere magnetic.

Finally decent deals from TW. Comments about TW over the years at various sites has gotten me flamed faster than current polarized political views. Purchased a dozen TW items (many to get free shipping) and had mixed results with 3 service calls for misc problems in 10+ years. Many given gifts with Pen, Splashproof, Pops, MKx, timers, and now the ONE as addition to my lineup. I like the ONE and appreciate price drops and free shipping more competitive. Still guaranteed to find that old dirty-Santa Inkbird on my fridge when looking for new the ONE.

Agreed but most people here won't understand the difference. Gotta really be into cooking/smoking/grilling.

Get a cheap one. They are all good...I think I spent $10 on Amazon.
As says the people that haven't tried the good quality ones... I do have a couple cheaper 2-3s models and the difference is significant when standing over a hot oven and checking multiple pieces and places. Probably not a huge difference for people that are okay with just good enough, but enough to make it worthwhile for a tool that might be in use regularly for the next decade.

I have this and my MK4, and this one is much better. It's been on slickdeals for around $30 in the past (when I got it) but I would buy this over thermoworks due to first hand experience with both.
