This is the every day price for the same type of cord at Harbor Freight.

While a good price for THIS brand and cable, this is also about the usual price you'd expect to pay for a cable like this from other lesser known brands. That being said, at the same price, I'd take this brand over any number of no-name brands.

There is voltage loss with length… not to mention a big price increase. You ideally want a cable to be as short as possible, while safe.

I'll never buy another Harbor Freight extension cord, the ends always fall apart, never stay in the plug properly. They're pretty crappy.

Newbie question: I have a firman who3242 that I primarily bought for any blackouts but so far it has been only used on couple of occasions for some events. I am assuming this is a standard cord that I can be used with this generator model? Second, what do I use on the other end to distribute the power to multiple appliances say my refrigerator, microwave, lights etc? Is there like a recommended way to power the appliances? TIA

this won't work for you, your firman is RV-Ready With a 120V, 30A RV – NEMA TT-30R A outlet
you need one like I purchased from Tractor supply Sportsman Series 25 ft. Extension Cord with Male TT-30P 30A Plug to 3-Split 5-15R Outlets at Tractor... [tractorsupply.com].

The cord on sale here is used to hook to a box on the outside wall of an RV and power the whole house.

If you looking to hook up your whole house you're going to need a bunch of stuff including wiring into your house circuits.

Are you speaking of the mentioned 30 amp cords or generic extension cords? I've got two of the harbor freight cords, while I do not use them every day, one is 7 years old and still looks and functions as it did when I bought it. The second is 2 years old and still looks new. These are also twist lock, so they have never fallen out.

OK...look at the quality of this cable versus those shown as price-equivalents...I'd prefer to go with this one.

If you have an electrician coming to install a whole house generator by means of a transfer switch or you're having them install an interlock ask them if they can provide a cable like this with it. It may be cheaper for them to get one. Plus in the case of my electrician he even extended his own warranty onto the cable as well.
