I imagine it would be super easy to throw a pizza stone on it and have a great pizza oven too!

In case anyone is looking for options, the Kamado Joe Pellet Joe is on sale at Kamado Joe for $799 after $1,000 off (regular for the past couple of months has been between $999-1,299), see the sale price after adding it to the cart. I thought $999 last month was good and they must be clearing out the pellet grill. It's still $1,249 at amazon.

Looks cool but only goes to 600 degrees.

I have a pit boss pellet grill and a Louisiana grills kamado which I rarely use. I haven't looked into recteq but this grill seems like I could replace both of mine with. I rarely use the kamado unless I want high temperature to sear steaks. $649 really isn't that bad in the world of grills. I think I'm going to bite. Seems like anything made for a 22" Weber will fit which is really nice.

Is this a good starter grill? I have never grilled anything before but would love to learn how to make a brisket. I live alone so I was planning on getting GMG Trek Prime 2.0 for black friday. Would this recteq be the better buy?

Starter grill!?! This isn't a starter grill! This is a finisher grill!

I recommend looking at some of the discussion boards for feedback and go from there. There are no shortage of Youtube reviews/Google searches.

My first grilling was on a 6-burner Kenmore propane grill and got the Akorn to learn charcoal grilling. I expanded from there ranging from the small 13" to the 24" Kamado and 2 pellet grills.

Each have their pros and cons and you will have to decide what works best for you. If you are cooking primarily for yourself then a tabletop pellet grill may be sufficient. I've one for grilling for 2-3 people.

Thanks for the reply! I think I will just bite on this and learn as I go. Buy once, Cry once I guess.

Unfortunately, that's the motto I pick up from SD, buy first and think later. LOL If you want to go all out, take a look at my Kamado Joe Pellet Joe post:

Pellet is easy to use and learn on. This grill will be fine.

Ya if this thing really does get over 900F, it's basically a pizza oven too!
