I was unable to place the order via PayPal or credit card but was finally able to get it through via Apple Pay from the Reverb app.

Although I still consider myself a beginner, I recently got this amp, when I first played my guitar through this amp, I immediately fell in love with it. I have several stage right amps but none of them sound as good as this one. Just my two cents, after all, I'm a beginner Smilie

Curious, when you say you compared it with your Stage Right amps, do you mean their Tube amps or just their solid state ones? I hear the Stage Right tube amps are pretty good.

I only have their tube amps, 15w and 50w. Well, I might think the other way when I get better though. If I had a $2000 guitar I would still make it sound like a $100 guitar Stick Out Tongue.

Nonetheless, I think this is a really good deal, I even thought about getting another one because I like it so much and it's only $200.

Heck of a deal. According to Line 6 you can indeed upgrade to the CX firmware on these: https://line6.com/support/page/kb...faq-r1074/. Down for one.

Yeah Reverb is having an issue with their checkout system today. Google pay on desktop worked for me as well.

For someone that really just plays for fun would this be much better than something like the Positive Grid Spark 40? I know this probably has a lot more features and more of a gig amp but probably a lot bigger too. Anyone have any experience with both? Leaning towards keeping the Spark I ordered and eventually adding a small tube amp when I have more space

Katana has many, many more effects built in, but to access all of them you will need to use the software editor. The Line 6 has an XLR output which is good for playing live and recording but not necessary.

This is much cheaper than the Katana 100 and even the Katana 50. This is comparable to the Katana 100, ie 100 watts of power.

Otherwise, they are very comparable in construction (possibly built in the same factory, the cabinet builds inside are almost identical).

They both have a built in selection of various amp models, from clean to mid to high gain amp sounds. Each company using their own amp models, so they won't be identical but can achieve similar tones.

They both can be used as a clean power amp for use with other amp modeling pedals.

I have the Spark 40 and it's a great little amp. I think there are actually more features on the Spark, but it's all connected to the App. I would recommend you download the app and see all the features it includes. You can check out the app without the amp. It has a lot of effects and models online that you can download. I don't have the Catalyst, but I would say the biggest difference is if you ever want to play a gig, you can do it with the Catalyst. If you're only going to be playing alone at home, the Spark is really fun.
