Can this be used as whole house backup? I don't want to get into the debate whether it's big enough. I know it's not. But assuming 5 kwhr is enough, can this be plugged into a 240V plug and be used as backup?

It doesn't look like it has 240v output, only 120v.

Since I've been on the Bluetti AC500 I cannot possibly imagine being limited to 2200W running watts.

I purchased this in March for $1679. I had hoped to use it to power my portable air conditioner in the event of a power outage. Discovered it won't handle the compressor initial surge, which is greater than it's 4kw surge capacity. Wish I'd bought the ecoflow delta pro which can handle a 7.2kw surge. Other than that it works great. Also, be aware... this thing is HEAVY!

I own one and use it as a UPS for my server rack.

It's only disappointed me once - when we had a rapid-fire series of power loss (probably went up and down 6 times in 2 seconds) that tripped it up. I had to reset the unit and then it's been running fine ever since.

So yeah - as a UPS it works. It's worked 100% of the time when manually testing. Only had 3-4 power issues over the 9 months I've had it, and 1 of those was the aforementioned black swan event.

Ecoflow Delta Pro refurb on ebay is currently $1509. it has 3.6kwh storage and u can add up to 2 extra batteries with 3.6kwh each. start with the base unit and add as u need additional for whole house backup. just FYI.

We should start a club, I also use it as a UPS for my home network stack (UniFi UDM Pro, 5 PoE cameras, 2 AP's, RasPi, HP server, etc). Have had it for a year and never had an issue, I'm manually power cycling it a couple of times a week to keep the batteries healthy. During outages (like after Hurricane Beryl) I use it to support my EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra.
The fans are noisy though, and will kick in fairly regularly so if you're using in an area close to you and you're sensitive to loud fan noise this isn't for you.
This qualifies for the Fed 30% battery rebate.

I remember there is some other device you can buy to overcome the AC surge at start.

You need a soft starter, which is required even if you run RV AC from a 2000W gas generator. More recent higher-end RV AC have soft starter built-in, but from what you described yours doesn't have one, so you need to install one yourself. They are not cheap (the RV-rated ones), but well worth the $ and effort.
My RV use MICRO-AIR Easystart, ~$200.

You need mini split or GE clearview. Even it power up central ac it won't last for long.
