This is $65 with Total (by Verizon) and that one unlocks in 60 days post activation. The issue is Total will need mandatory number port in and verification via 3rd party.
Alternatively, it's also available with Straight Talk for $130 for 3 months of service paid and also unlocks in 60 days post activation. No 3rd party verification needed.
This metro deal is not worth IMHO because of uncertainty with unlock (nobody knows with surety if it unlocks after 1 year of activation or after being on active plan with metro for 1 year. It has not been a year since Metro changed it's unlock policy in May 2024). That aside, it's not a great value to keep a mid-range device unusable as a phone for 1 year and wait for unlock. Others may differ in opinion and I respect that.

You could always make the OP to pay for the rest if the phone doesn't unlock.

If you just need a mini computer for some simple web browsing and video, this is good. You just connect a monitor with it and you can use Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. That's something special with edge

Metro deals are not new, they all unlock automatically, used to be at 6 months on the $40 plan. Now 1 year on the higher plans only. Are you new?
His point is that no one knows for sure with empirical evidence with the new 1 year policy. Chances are that only the timeframe changes, but it is still a bit of a gamble. Yes realizing that Metro's "since activation date" wording is still there so again likely only the timeframe changes.
I went with the Metro S24 FE though. 1 year later it'll still be an upper midranger for $200 + $75 plan. Right now for reference, the S23 FE is >$500 retail. Samsung / Best Buy also sometimes give good TIVs for these.
Total wireless charges sales taxes on full price even phone is free
Wait for real? That's an extra $25 for me plus having to deal with porting. This Metro deal seems to be better at $75, just a much longer wait for unlock but I'm just using it as a portable Android machine

Wait this is capable of using Motorola's ready for? Is this wireless Bluetooth or Wi-Fi? Or is it USB 3.1+ wired capable from the phone charge port?

Can work wirelessly to a Roku TV even without Wi-Fi. Works best when connected with a USB C to HDMI or DisplayPort adapter.
The phone screen can be off and you can use a physical keyboard and mouse. Or you can use the phone as a virtual keyboard and a touchpad or air mouse.

I am quite interested in the smart connect feature. Here is a comparison chart with what it can do. I read in a reddit that the usb didn't work for monitor and just worked with pc but this chart says otherwise.
FWIW. The Motorola g stylus 2024 has smart connect capability too but just wireless (miracast) and pc. I didn't know that got it as well.
Smart connect where connecting multiple devices all together at once. Pretty interesting. Smart connect does more than screen mirroring. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=01NHZXuJYrQ

Will I be able to use a "usb c to hdmi cable" and plug it into a tv and it will work? I hope so. I don't mean as a remote or mouse but show the screen.

Yes. If you mirror your phone you will see black bars due to the mismatch in aspect ratio.
If you use the native Desktop, TV, or game modes, apps are displayed on the TV without black bars. In this case you need to use one of the input methods I mentioned.

Thanks. Smart Connect is definitely looking quite useful.
