This offer can be combined with the $10 Tello Dollars for a new account. You have use a referral code when creating the account.

And for those new to Tello, you can roll the unused amount of the 5GB to the next month by manually renewing a day before the automatic renewal.

I use Tello for my daughter's smartwatch. At $7 including tax per month. It's the most affordable service.

I have been a Tello subscriber for years with a few Android smartphones now. I have never had a problem with coverage. It may be unique for me but in the Western Phila. PA suburbs and it rivals the Verizon coverage my GF had before she switched to Tello. My only experience with customer service was when I had problems moving my then new 5G Pixel phone to Tello. We eventually solved the problem by moving to a eSIM, haven't had a hiccup since. I save a boatload of money, for a short period I needed to switch to their unlimited plan. It was seamless and I have since moved back to the 5G/mo plan since it is no longer needed. I save a boatload of money and very happy with their service.

So if you let it lapse and auto renew you end up losing the balance you've accumulated and it drops back down to the plan renewal amount?
Also what would be the strategy to maximize this when converting over to the prepaid plan?

Meh... they want an extra $5 / month just to add a hotspot ($50 / year). A 50% increase just to use the data you've already paid for. I don't use it often, but do need it available every month or two. Included with Tello plans.

Well, it doesn't technically lapse because of the autorenewal, but yes, if you let it autorenew, it resets to the balance of the monthly plan, just like US mobile or most monthly plans. If you cancel and let it fully lapse, you have 5ish days to add another plan before losing the number, but the line won't be usable during the time there is no plan.

By the prepaid plan, do you mean the paygo balance? The problem with that is you have to do a minimum spend of $20, then it expires at 90 days unless you start a monthly plan. So if you do this intro offer for the first month, manually renew at the 2GB plan for the second month using Tello Dollars, then at the end of the second month, you can cancel the plan and add the $20 paygo credit. You will lose any remaining data from the plans during the first two months.

For 89 days you can use data, minutes, and texts as a declining balance. But to prevent the balance from expiring on day 90, you need to add a plan. But at that point, you could do the $5 plan with 1GB and unlimited texts each month. Your calls would continue to use the paygo balance.

Thanks. This was helpful I didn't realize the $20 minimum on refills.
I recall a previous thread talking about after getting referral moving text and minutes to a pay as you go and monthly for data.

Appreciate sharing this info. I have been using tello services for quite some time and never observed that if we manually renew a day earlier before auto renewal the remaining Data and Call both gets rolled over.

And one caveat, it will only roll if the new plan also contains that item. So if you have 200 minutes and 1GB data left at the end of the month, and selected the $5 1GB plan that has no minutes, your data would roll over, but not the minutes from the previous month.

Didn't know you can roll over the data this way. Can you accumulate the data if you keep doing this? or only the current month's.
Also to follow up on the post above. If I have 5G data this month, and next month I choose 2G, will that rollover as well?

Yes, it will roll indefinitely. We had a line that was on the $5/month when it was 500mb, then increased to 1GB. The line was rarely used, so it was up to about 13GB at one point.

And yes, create an account with a referral, start with the 5GB, then manually renew the day before the autorenewal redeeming the $10 of Tello dollars for the 2GB unlimited talk/text plan. If you used only 1GB the first month, the remaining 4GB will roll and you will have 6GB in month two. Then, if you don't really need unlimited minutes, then you can switch to 2GB/300 minutes in the third month, then keep rolling minutes and data each month and adjusting the plan based on what your actual use is. Texts are unlimited with every plan.

The Tello flexibility now becomes annoying to me after using for a while. You must remember to pay your plan before the due date in order to carry on over unused min or data.
Exactly! Tello are tricksters! They love to tell you that things expired after they expire and not give you a warning before which they could easily do. Good luck!

Tello is on T-Mobile. And yes, it is a hard stop when you use up your data. That changed that relatively recently. They do offer an option to purchase add-on data but specifically say it will not roll to your next billing cycle, so if you run out of data in week 3, I think it makes more sense to just renew the plan early.
