The original set had a problem with the binding--it would inevitably come apart at the spine and basically disintegrate and pages would fall out.

I'm *pretty* sure that I heard this was fixed in later editions.

On a random side note, Bill Watterson is one of my heroes, and I can feel the rage bubbling up any time I see one of those godawful "Calvin peeing" stickers. Watterson never licensed ANYTHING for C&H--no mugs, no t-shirts, no stickers. The peeing sticker image is actually stolen from a C&H panel where Calvin is deviously filling up a water balloon. It's a slight on Watterson's legacy that those imbecilic stickers exist.

Only paperback qualifies for 3/2 deal. Hardcover is $83 regardless of quantity and coupon applies to multiples.

Hardcover had qualified as of 7:36 AM Pacific today, so thanks for pointing out that update. I edited the original post.

Yes, super heavy. Very hard for smaller children to carry around. But my little one loves the comics. I'm happy as a clam that I could share this from my childhood with my children.

There's a guide online for minimum books to get the full collection if you want to DIY. I paid $1 each plus shipping for used copies a few years ago.

Just FYI you'll end up with some duplication.

I bought this in October 2021 for $71. Adjusted for inflation, that's $81 today.

All time low according to CCC is $51 in November 2012.

Same here. growing up in the 80's I read this day by day via the Mercury News paper from start to finish. I was bummed when he retired, and was ecstatic when I was able to buy the complete set. I too am now sharing it with my son, though I agree that it's heavy and I have to get it out for him. not a big deal because I'm also interested in keeping it in good condition.

As a huge fan of calvin and hobbs, I would highly suggest picking this up if you grew up with it like I did.

I have every comic in some form (mostly from book orders and library sales when I was a kid). Been saving then ever since for my kids to read Never pulled the trigger on this nice set because I'm afraid they'd destroy them...

I think I got the same 2021 deal, it's sitting sealed in the closet waiting for when my now 4yo starts to read in a year or so.

I have a set with the blah binding issue, bought it for my nephew but it's barely holding up. I can't really spend what I used to, so just trying to keep it in working order.

I've had this in my wishlist for years to get eventually and while the price fluctuates it's always been about this price.
