I've put 70,000 miles on a car with Comma (maybe 50k with Comma engaged). I'd pay full price without thinking twice. Comma really shines on long drives.

For the Chevy Bolt EV & EUV Premiere trim with ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control), it can keep you in the lanes and steer up to a certain degree. It greatly upgrades the stock ACC since the LKAS (lane keep assist system) just ping pongs you between the lane.

If you use FrogPilot (works best for GM cars), it makes the driving experience much more pleasant on long highway drives.

There is a mode where the lateral control will keep you in the lane while you can still use the accelerator/brake or one-pedal. If you have an older model, it can still do it but you'll need what's called a "comma pedal" to make it work.

Not sure about compatability in the future for the Benz, but considering BMW wants a subscription for the heated seats, I would say that's probably for sure off the table.

Kia Niro, works perfectly. I have a few thousand miles on it and it has been reliable and smoothly working. New car is a Volvo which unfortunately does not get supported.
Which year Niro? I have a 2020 PHEV, would love to use it. Any tips (forks, installation, etc.)?

Thank you all for your comments! Very useful.

I just sold my Mustang Mach E with Blue Cruise and got a Chevy Equinox with Super a cruise which is a very lame system. Thinking of getting this to see if I can go back to the quality of Blue Cruise.

Was thinking of getting this for my 22. Do you actually trust it 100% or have any scary moments using it?
I actually bought one from this deal for my 23 CX-5 but have been following the progress of Comma for some time now. While it actually steers your vehicle for you, you're still in control 100% of the time. It's like if you enable factory lane keep assist in yours but can still maneuver against it with a bit extra force. For Mazda, the unit can't control the brakes & pedal directly (hence, no experimental modes), all it does is changes the cruise control settings dynamically which could be a good thing if you're worried about safety. Here are some things that are good to know:-
1. You enable Comma (just turning on factory cruise mode while device is plugged in), it starts keeping you in the center of the lane at any speed.
2. It sees a car in front, it does nothing extra but since cruise is enabled, the Mazda radar cruise automatically matches the speed of the front vehicle (as long as it's lower than your set speed)
3. If there's no vehicle in front & you've set cruise speed to 75, Comma just keeps you in the lane and business as usual. Now, if you enter a zone with 55 speed limit, Comma can set the max speed limit for that area to 55 automatically (it's as if you lowered the cruise speed) - This feature requires other popular branch code - FrogPilot or SunnyPilot.
4. If you want to switch lane, you just put turn signal and Comma can use car's factory blind spot monitoring alert to identify if you have an obstruction and switch lane for you. You can also set it so that you need to nudge the steering once before it initiates the lane change. This might also require SP or FP.
5. Comma also works on streets without any lane markings. It essentially uses a driving model that has been trained with actual driving videos (pretty much what Tesla FSD switched to recently) and tries to mimic what an actual user will do in that scenario.
6. You can also individually set the lane keep so that you are actually hitting gas & brake (vs adaptive cruise) and Comma will just keep steering for you. Even if you press brake, it doesn't disengage. This also requires FP or SP.
7. Mazda has limit on how much torque you can put on steering. So, Comma can't really do turns at city road intersections. It can only keep you at lane. It identifies the upcoming turns and if it knows it can't make it, it will warn you.
8. Experimental modes aren't supported in Mazda since it can't take over Brake or Pedal directly. Hence, you won't get some features like auto stop at Stop signs/red signals.
9. There are ways to load offline maps in SP (afaik) which assists the device with road speed limits etc. You don't necessarily have to pay for Comma Prime.
10. It does really well even during night times & heavy rain as far as I know.

The devices gives enough info on the screen to let you know what exactly is it going to do but you're always in control with a little bit more pressure. Also, if you stop looking at the road or get distracted in any way, the device will know and will start alerting loudly before attempting a safe stop. You can join their discord group that has #mazda channel. Pretty much everybody drives CX-5 there.

Hope this helps!

Yes. It keeps the footage for (I believe) 3 days.
It definitely keeps the footage but there has been incidents where the footages went missing right after any collision. Comma suggests using a separate dashcam for dashcam purposes. Source - https://github.com/commaai/openpi...ideo-Files

Can we use it without $24 monthly subscription?
Yes, you can use it without subscription.
I think the $24 subscription also gives you a sim card with data services + Comma Prime navigation. You can just pay $8 if you use your own SIM. Regardless, you don't need either to use the unit and there are forks available which allow loading of offline maps that the unit can use for it's purposes.

I own a 22 Odyssey and looked into this. You have to use a fork which doesn't work below 45mph but seems fine for interstate driving.

Mine is 2019, and as far as I know 2019 and 2020 are both well supported. I use sunnypilot and love it. Installation is super simple and straightforward, and you should be able to find detailed video on y2b.

Thank you so very much. From my learnin' so far, it seems like different forks are better suited to different makes/models so I am happy you mentioned sunnypilot for this Niro. Anyways, I've gone ahead and ordered it, looking forward to install and trying this out!)

It's ok but don't expect too much. Also a lot of work.
Comma is literally plug and play if you car supports it. most installation take 30mins at most. tell me why you said "a lot of work" and what your expectations were?

Good luck! I think you definitely will like it. It has its limitations, but within the limits it works so well.

I wonder if your downvotes are people that haven't tried tesla fsd... Tesla fsd is sketch. I had it last month free, for the second month and it feels like a novice driver.

I'm trying to understand what the heck this is? It seems like it's just a camera, does it do more?

I use it on 2021 odyssey, it only works above 45mph. Not sure if it works on open pilot stock software, I use it with sunny pilot and you have to choose acura, from what I understand any Honda that uses the Bosch camera would work for odyssey 21+. You can also enable an experimental toggle that will make it work for all speeds but you lose the AEB which I didn't want to. I mainly use it for highway traffic and it is great.
