4GB RAM is ok for a lower end Android phone like the A15. It is a 2024 phone so it will get at 4 years update from Samsung.
There are several tips discussed on other SD threads about how to "speed up" these phones (uninstalling unused apps, turning animation off in developer mode and setting RAMplus to zero).
The A15 is probably fine as a back up phone and you are not using multiple apps at the same time. At this low price on straight talk and unlock in 60 days, it is a good deal if you need a back up phone for cheap.

deal is long gone, sharing here to explain for other people

June 12-Oct 13 the free straight talk phone was the Moto G Power 2024 edition if you bought 1 month of silver service. Brand new phone (announced late March 2024) on the market, so new that some phones were not auto unlocking in August (60 days after) for Straight Talk forgot to install the unlock server on their end and thus people had complaints for their phones were not auto unlocking as they should. But by early September Straight Talk had fix this and phones were auto unlocking after 60 days again. My personal phone that I bought right before the sale ended should be unlocking in 32 days *so cross my fingers* (took a week and a half to ship the device, this is relevant for I am traveling in christmas so I need internet while traveling)

New Phone deal is the Samsung A15 5g above. Deal is good till Jan 5, 2025 aka a different 3 month period of this will be the straight talk phone on sale, free after 1 month service.

The A15 has less ram, and makes a horrible T-Mobile phone for it has the verizon 5g bands but not both of the two the 5g frequency bands T-Mobile uses (4g should still work though, and it has one of the two main 5g bands.) Frequency Bands for AT&T it has some of the 5g and 4g bands but not all that carrier uses, but also AT&T has a white list problem where only certain phone models work on AT&T and I do not know if this phone works on AT&T due to that whitelist or not.

Good Luck

So on straight talks website it says this phone has the Helio G99. You goto the phones overview page and scroll down.
The info on ST web site is wrong. The Helio G99 is a 4G chip which is used in the A15 4G (not 5G) model.

Not seeing any great phone deals this year. Last year I got an iphone SE3 for $80. Walmart also had the A54 for $129.
There are some current deals but take some work. In Sept I got two Total Wireless A54 for FREE with ID Verification, each with a required plan (1st line $65, 2nd line $30), and a port-in from Google Voice. Total cost of $147 with taxes and fees. They got unlocked last week and I sold them both on Ebay for $175 each within 24 hrs.

I see what you mean here this shows the differences between the two

https://m.gsmarena.com/compare.ph...one2=12638

However, the geekbench score of the helio G99 is
Single core 729
Multi core 1979

And the dimmensity 6100+ is
Single core 692
Multi core 1866

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Med...242.0.html

https://nanoreview.net/en/soc/mediatek-helio-g99

The difference in performance between those two would hardly be noticible.

Usually there's a limit of 2 - but I got 2 G Power during the summer and was able to place order for different phone last week, so don't know what time limit is. All you can do is try.
I got the iphone 13 deal last week so I can only buy 1 Samsung A15 now (not that I want more than 1)? If I try to buy another phone with a discount later, it may get canceled (because I hit the limit of 2) or I should open another ST account?

In general, do you have to Active line to get a discount on the Silver Plans? Just wondering after I let the plans lapse after the 1st month, I assume the lines will go Inactive and they won't give you the $30 or $15 price for future Silver Plan phone / plan purchases?

I would like to put this on page plus right away. It is possible even while locked since page plus is part of the tracfone family. Do I need to rebrand the phone, can I swap the sim or should I buy a new one?

Mine still didn't ship either. Hope it's not another ST scam that takes forever to cancel and refund.

Unlock is pretty straight forward:
buy plan/activate phone/wait 60 days & phone unlocks.
Phone will only activate on Verizon, they've owned TF, Total and ST for 3 years.

Do you want to have it unlocked later? If no, then activate it on Page Plus. A rep might be able to re-brand it as PP and let you use its original ST SIM. If it can't be re-branded, then you'll need to get a PP SIM.

If you want it unlocked later, then activate it on ST with the required-purchase plan and keep it active as long as possible (some people posted that their phone was active for only a few days on ST and still got unlocked after 60 days). Then remove it from your account while it's still active, so it won't get stuck as an inactive device in your ST account. After the phone's service on ST runs out after 30 days or you end its service early by porting out its phone number, then use it with Page Plus.

I ordered on Wed 11/13, not shipped yet, same status. With the promotion, they might have run out of stock and are waiting for resupply.

my Tracfone unlocked A15 showed a 5G signal on Mint just fine. ST specs should be the same. My A15 is now in PV, Mx and getting 5G on Telcel.
