Make a MA account, under settings you can manage retailers and link your apple TV account. Do so with Amazon, Microsoft, Vudu, and whoever else. You can now buy from any linked retailer and they all share a common library.
Not all studios agree to share over MA and those you buy you just have to remember where you purchased from and view only from that retailer.
Definitely works.

Edit, OP updated the post to no longer have movies anywhere in the title. Not listed on product page. But they're confirming it is working as MA compatible.

Can somebody confirm.
Earlier this year I bought Dune (part 1) from Microsoft with the intention of sharing it on MoviesAnywhere and watching it with the Apple TV+ app on our Android TV. Despite the Dune listing prominently showing a MoviesAnywhere logo, the transfer didn't work, and we ended up buying it from Apple instead. Microsoft couldn't be reached, but PayPal refunded the purchase.
We're LOTR fans and I would jump on this deal if I knew it could be transferred with MoviesAnywhere. But this LOTR listing does NOT list MoviesAnywhere (which the Dune listing did). I take that as a clue NOT to expect it to work.
