Is it just me or mini tool box gimmicky novelty fad item? Think about what can you actually fit in there? The darn thing takes up space and you cant fit much other than nik/nak junk.

I've seen plenty of wood workers, model makers, and electronics repair people use these to store polishing/sharpening supplies, connectors, wire, mini irons, blades, testing devices, precision tool sets, carving or mixing tools, and people who do 3D printing storing replacement parts or things they commonly use to assemble multi-piece prints (small screws, glue, etc.) in them, and for that purpose I think they work great.
They aren't meant to store a whole set of ratchets and wrenches, but they can definitely address some of the storage chaos in those hobbyist and repair circles while not costing much more than a pencil box does now.

Given that there are so few things I need A/C/D cell batteries for these days, I don't find the headache of "Will it work or do I need to strip down the object and clean the corroded contacts?" worth the meager savings over just buying Energizers as I need them.
