Agreed, I was bummed that wasn't part of the default Z790 design. However, you should be able to pick up a bifurcating PCIe card that supports as many as 4 NVMe's at full 5.0 speed. The downside is you'll have to run your GPU at 4.0 speeds, but that seems like a logical trade off. Also, it's worth reading the motherboard's manual to figure out how the lanes are distributed to the sockets. Your main slot might only be x8 or x12.
