If you're on the fence about an ultrawide or if you're trying to pick up something for office work, just get this one and ignore the haters if they pop up in this thread.

Is it going to compete with a Samsung OLED? No. Is it going to compete with the LG top end 34" ultrawide? No.

Is it the best ultrawide you're gonna get at $155 and be WAY BETTER than your 1080p 60hz 27" monitor you've had for 5 years? You betcha.

I bought 8 of these for my employees in IT a year ago, and they've been fantastic. Had one of them show up busted, but it was an easy return. They are a little dim out of the box, but it's because they're in some sort of low power mode.

Could not recommend more at this price point.

I just couldn't get used to the oddness of a 32 inch ultrawide curved monitor, and went back to 2 seperate 27 inch 16:9 monitors.

downsides I encountered:
-older games won't work without patches or workarounds, or won't work, at ultrawide resolutions. If you play alot of vintage games it's probably not worth the headaches.
-some hud elements are flung into distant corners, such as minimaps in RTS/MOBA type games, which is problematic
-Same with UI elements of some programs, like Pearson Vue testing worked horribly on an ultrawide

I have not had a single issue with any vintage games (Steam, GoG clients) running with an ultrawide. They just output 4:3 or 16:9 resolution in the center of the screen.

"I have to move my eyeballs 3 or 4 inches to the right/left to see a minimap" seems like a REAL stretch for a complaint when you're getting more screen area for a game. Any game that has a minimap you need to reference frequently (BG3, WoW, Diablo, PoE, MOBAs etc) would greatly benifit from the ultrawide aspect anyway.

I have an ultrawide with a worse panel I'm trying to sell 2nd hand because I bought the Samsung OLED deal.
This deal is less than what I'm listing my monitor for and might kill any chance I have getting rid of it on the used market lol.
Which deal did you end up buying? Hope it's less than $300 as we need one for work only, np gaming

Is this not a good monitor since it's VA if I would be using it for 90% office work and 10% gaming. Should I go with an IPS monitor instead?

I am looking at this but think it's too big. Maybe a 30'?
What is the size of the actual monitor horiz and vert?
It's equivalent to 1 and 1/3 27" side-by-side. As in, the same height as a 27" 16:9, but it's 33% wider.

There's no need for an IPS monitor if it's 90% regular office work.

What do you mean "won't work?" They just won't fill the screen. You'll have black bars. As someone who plays lots of early 2000's FPS games this is a common sight to me. Unless of course you have the monitor's setting to force a certain aspect ratio but that is an easy setting to change. Set it to "auto" and it will adapt to whatever aspect ratio is being outputted.

So change the in game resolution and see above Same problem could happen on a standard wide screen monitor and vintage RTS though. But I doubt you are running a 4:3 because of it.

So don't maximize that window. Another option is treat the ultra wide like dual monitors. Most of my work programs were designed with a 4:3 monitor in mind so I end up running two windows side by side on my ultra wide. (or youtube on the other side Wink) "Windows Snap" feature is amazing for this.

Point is, to each their own, but none of these shortcomings are actually shortcomings.

I think the only downside to this one is the HDMI 2.0 ports, since it only supports up to 100hz on a UWQHD display Frown
