There were two deals posted today for 15.6" laptops with Intel 1215U and 1235U at $249 and $299 respectively. I would go with either of those deals. The Intel chips in this case are stronger both CPU and GPU wise. If you plan to do any gaming at all the 1235U is the chip you want as its GPU is over twice as fast ... it's the only one that has any hope to play modern titles at all (low settings, upscaling).

Despite the marketing pictures showing a game on the screen, gaming is the last thing anybody should be planning to do with a $300 laptop. A laptop like this would be great for a school/student laptop, or a travel laptop, but it's cheap as hell for a reason.

Well it depends. No laptop in this price range is going to play new games super well. You are correct about this. This laptop will not play the games pictured at playable frame rates.

But even this laptop here will still play 14 year old AAA games pretty well. And the one I mentioned with Intel 1235U will play 10 year old AAA games like a champ and is pretty serviceable for all but the most recent games at low settings. If that's something you want to do on top of basic productivity tasks then I say whey the heck not?

While I usually like to recommend systems with AMD CPUs lately, this CPU is old enough that I don't think it's worth buying, even in a $300 laptop.

This is based on the Zen 2 architecture with Radeon 610M integrated graphics. I think that the sweet spot of price for price/performance right now is the Zen 4 architecture with 780M graphics.

For sub $300 laptops the older Intel CPUs probably beat the Zen 2 AMD CPUs as AMD didn't really get good until Zen 3.

No the Bestbuy one is touch for 250. Another difference is the ram in the and $300 is soldered in and no additional slots. BB has an extra slot

Does anyone know if this laptop can run Minecraft? Trying to find a budget laptop that the kids can sometimes use for Minecraft.
