Has anyone seen any non-SSD external or internal storage drives on sale this BF?
Doesn't anyone use mechanical hard drives anymore?

What gives?

They do not retain data as long as hard drives.
It is good for every day but not for long term storage.
Depends what you consider long term. Personally, if you need to save something for years, I wouldn't trust either to last, especially if you're just putting it on a shelf and forgetting about it. Use cloud storage if you need 99.9999% reliability.

Sure and get your information exposed!
I use 2 drives - one is a mirror image.

Any decent cloud storage service will store your data encrypted and nobody else will have access to it (I work with cloud services in my day job and they are sticklers about them not accessing your data). I personally use RAID; I have two RAID 6 arrays and one RAID 5, but I would still recommend cloud storage for anything important.

Of course, if you're really concerned, encrypt the data yourself with something like Veracrypt and an extra long key, before sending it to the cloud.

Looks like it comes with 1x16GB RAM. Can anyone help find details on the memory, so I can buy a stick to match it? Bonus, if you recommend any current deals on a matching stick! TIA! Smilie

Also, this info is useful enough to buyers, that it should probably go in the wiki for this deal...

Were you referencing a post, or did you forget a link? Trying to find the deal that had RAM included, not seeing it.
