Considering not everyone has Costco. It would be a good option since the black color is now $199 (before it was $229)

If you have Costco you get it for $170 with a better return policy if anything goes wrong with it (ever?). You do get a soft case. But a hard case is $17-18 on Amazon to have 2 (soft and hard)

I'll do this for the extra protection and get hard when I travel! 😉

Battery isn't the issue here. I have a couple of Bose QCs over the years. While the material on the ear pads and headband is soft and comfortable, it'll deteriorate and start peeling off after a few years of light use (and look gross). The ear pad is easy to find after market replacement on ebay for the popular colors. The headband replacement isn't so straight forward. Buyer beware.

checked in target few days back, saw ultra right next to this, tried both, both were good comfort wise, did not notice much difference, tried only for few minutes, but the ultra is of a metal one and looked better to me. I will wait for ultra to be on sale at some point. I currently have sony mx4 got this in the last deal at $128. These are good as well, use them for my long walks, 1-2 hrs, i feel the are a tiny bit uncomfortable after some time, no complaints sound wise. I will continue to use mx4, will get ultra, if it will ever go on sale, for a second pair.

The foam slowly ripped off the headphones after only a few uses. Not able to get them back on.

Never had the chance for that because the foam comes off around the edges with no way to put them back on. Great sound but no good without the foam. I got about 20 uses out of them
