For people subscribing for the first time, I'd recommend signing up as soon as the discount is live so that next year there's not much overlay in your subscription expiring and the discount going live again, and if you don't auto renew this year's sub you'd most likely be able to grab the discount next year too.

I WAS a Premium Subscriber before Sony decided to raise the rates through the roof. Once they decided to charge $159 for a year of Premium, I decided not to renew and I eventually just became comfortable going back to PC gaming. I upgraded my PC, and now my PS5 collects dust. I'm absolutely fine with that at this point. They lost me long enough to allow me to find a viable alternative to console gaming. You can tell by how this promo is structured that they are pressed for more Premium subscribers (with Premium being only ten bucks more than Extra). I'm not interested in playing jump rope with Sonys price points anymore. It doesn't make sense to pay less now just to get comfortable playing online and end up in the same boat next year (looking for another reasonable promotion) because theres ZERO chance that I'm going to pay Sony's full price for PS Plus next year. The real slap in the face is seeing the content you were playing the entire year suddenly become locked behind a $159 dollar paywall when your sub is done Smilie Now give them more money or never play them again. COD is crossplay from PC and NO addl monthly fees. Get yourself a PC and stop giving Sony your money.

Right now i'm on a 3 Month Extra that expires December 17. I don't have any discounts other than 30% off upgrading to Premium for the remainder of my sub. Would my cheapest option be to change to Essentials, then use the 30% to upgrade to Extra?

Screw Sony and their ridiculous pricing. Being able to just play online should be $20~30 a year. I also stopped subscribing since their senseless price hike and haven't missed it like I thought I would.

I deleted my PS plus in September to grab this deal. As mentioned. Doing it day 1 so I can grab the deal for years after letting it lapse, unless they change this terrible policy/strategy

Yes. Anyone know if there's going to be any PSN card sales better than that? Dollar General last year had them 20% off at this time, so I stacked with that, and got Essential to an effective $52 or so, which I could live with.

As a Portal owner and the recent update to finally allow it to stream games, and also with my Xbox Gamepass expiring and collecting dust, I think might actually go the Premium route. Even the cdkeys discount above stacked with the sale would take it down to an effective $100 for 12 months. Not terrible for the library of games.

That's where I'm at. I believe my account expires tomorrow. So once you are able to get aligned with this deal, you just make sure you don't auto-renew and then every year you'll at least get these "discounts". Which frankly just put the pricing back in the ballpark of where it should be to begin with. The list prices are a complete non-starter.
